Recruitment for jobs within Shenley Brook End School.
Thank you for your interest in working at Shenley Brook End School. Milton Keynes has a number of secondary schools (including Shenley Brook End) which admit students from Y7 onwards. The largest comprehensive school has over 2,500, most accommodate over 1,000 students and Shenley Brook End has over 1,500 students on roll.
Shenley Brook End School opened in 1997. It is an attractively designed and purpose built comprehensive school. The design of the school is particularly interesting, comprising a curved two storey building with an indoor “street” separating the classes and specialist areas from the administration area.
The school was built in four phases. The school opened with just Phase 1, Phase 2 was opened in September 2001, Phase 3 opened in September 2004 and Phase 4 was completed in April 2016.
The school is a maths and computing specialist school with a second specialism of science. We have invested heavily in additional ICT provision and are well-resourced with a school-wide network with an optical fibre backbone, UTP Cat 5 cabling and a wireless network. We have a Virtual Learning Environment and use the SIMS Learning Gateway to allow home access for students, parents and staff.
We are a popular school and are considerably over-subscribed. Parents are attracted to the school because of its emphasis on uniform, discipline and academic work. We are a uniform school and all students are encouraged to wear their uniform with pride. A high standard of dress is also expected of staff.
The school maintains a firm but fair standard of discipline and believes in the traditional values of courtesy, honesty and respect for others and property. All students are expected to show good manners and consideration for others at all times, whether in or out of school. A calm and orderly atmosphere pervades the school and there is a clear emphasis on hard work and achievement.
In 2013 the school achieved 70% 5+ A*-C including English and maths.
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and requires all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All staff are subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate.
