Very disappointed. Ordered with just eat. Over an hour late even though I got the message it was with the deliverer rang the restaurant to say I hadn't got the meal an hour later was told the meal was ready but was waiting for a driver. I have been going to the Shapla since it first opened. I'm convinced that they have a new chef as the meal was bland and the chicken tough.
The service was excellent. The waiter was attentive and kept watching us throughout the meal. We assumed he was protecting us in case we were attacked , as after all we were on the Ridgeway. So very reassuring. There is a very pleasant light feature on the ceiling , which was a nice touch. The tikka masala had a very distinctive taste , I can only liken it to washing up liquid. Fortunately I love washing up liquid, but my fellow diners weren't fans. The most annoying aspect was one had pay for rice and bread separately ,which is a rip off quite frankly. Especially during the on- going cost of living crisis.
Booked a table late but the excellent team accommodated us. The service and food was outstanding. We had a great meal, enjoyed the ambiance and the interaction with the friendly staff. Thank you shapla for another fantastic dining experience. The tandoori garlic chilli chicken was top class

A terrible restaurant to say the least. Almost as bad as plympton spice down the road. The decor were ok and there was cool Indian music on but I can’t say anything good about the rest. The waiter seemed to be a stalker and was stalking me throughout my meal. He was also in a staring compitition with a strange lady at a neighboring table who was dancin to the Indian music all the time. I liked the popaduns at the beginning but then the chicken tikka masala arrived on me table which came after a very long wait. It was red and the quality of the chicken were plastic and stale much worse than in the north where I come from. Speaking of the north, this was very expensive for a northerner like me. I paid 83 pound for some rubbish curry and rice from t‘microwave. Rubbish restaurant. Do not come here unless you want to be spied on and want to have food poisoning and wait 2 hours for your rubbish curry to be delivered. Sincerely Sharon Garcia
Order 5 different curries and some sides on a Friday night. Everyone agreed the curries tasted great and were good value. It wasn't the fastest delivery, but we were out in the sticks and it's was a Friday evening. Would happily recommend and use again.Food: 5/5
To say the most flavoursome part of the order was the plain pappadums should tell you all you need to know. Curry’s looked and tasted like water with chunks of unmarinated chicken floating in it. Absolutely awful. Will never ever use again and recommend anyone reading this doesn’t either unless you want to completely waste your money!
Ordered takeaway for collection after highly recommended by friends. Very bland food with lack of spices. Next day my girlfriend had explosive diarrhea and was very ill
