This is a lovely place to have a gentle walk around the the lake. I am a keen photographer so I like going at different times of the year. Dog-friendliness: Plenty of people walk their dogs around the lake. Picnic area: There are picnic tables dotted around the lake.
I’ve been coming to Shakerley Mere for the last 30 years, and we love it, it’s beautiful. It’s a really easy walk, good for push chairs and wheelchairs, with lots of parking which is also free. The only down part is there’s no longer any toilets. All the signs say toilets, but they are completely closed off and haven’t been open for years. I just wish they’d update the signage around the mere!
A good circular shortish walk round the lake. Disappointing that most ducks have gone presumably culled due to avian flu. The toilets are permanently closed apparently due to night time visitors. Doesn't seem as popular as it once was.
Not a bad place to visit but it's not a big place the walk only takes about 15mins
Great place to walk but just now not a lot of bird life about because of avian flu & blue green algae. A few butterflies & dragonflies about. Not many dog walkers about at present either. Normally my favourite place for relaxing or photographic stroll.
A lovely place for a walk lots of seats as well
Great place to walk - lovely views of the lake and wildlife. One of my regular places to walk.
Νice little walk around a pond, it takes about 35 mins to walk around it on main path with a slow pace. The path is gravel and its sorrounded by trees. Only turn off the noise from the M6 on one part of the walk. Plenty of fowl in pond all year round too, so kids could have fun feeding them.
Toilets closed at the moment, even the disabled one. Disgraceful
Great for a short circular walk
