One of my favourite car park at Kingston town centre.nFairly spacious parking space and plentiful.nWell maintained, quiet clean.nVery convenient to walk to Bentall shopping centre, John Lewis, high street, Rotunda, ancient market, or riverside restaurants, etc.nParking fee is reasonable.nAutomatic Number Plate Recognition System in and out of the car park, no need to open your window to take or insert the ticket, time & effort saving.nAmazing view of north Kingston from the top floor, far reaching to Richmond Park and Richmond Hill, The Star and Garter.
The charge per hour has increased from £1 to £2.40, and at the same time the attendant has gone from the assistance booth, and no longer patrols, the toilets are permanently closed and out of order and worst of all the car park is dangerously dark as almost all of the lights are out of order. Is a car park with no lighting legal ? Does it require a local authority license to operate, which requires a minimum level of lighting and security ? Whoever now owns the car park Aviva or Bentalls ? is clearly putting profits over people.nnOn the plus side, the car park is very handy for the town centre and so is always busy, and the pay on exit by number plate system works well.
Used to be cheaper than the main Bentall Centre car parks but now seems to be the same price despite being further from the main shopping area.nnDark and dingy in the parking areas as most of the lights seem to be broken or turned off. This makes it feel oppressive at most times of the day.nnEntry / exit lanes narrow and with high kerbs so easy to damage wheels on larger cars.
Shock to the system when I saw prices have doubled for an hour and shot up for anything beyond. This used to be the perfect place to park in Kingston but looks like greed has got to Bentalls, will have to look elsewhere to park or even other towns to shop now. Not seen rip off prices like this in many other places besides city centres
Good reasonable place to park your car safely also near the shopping centres. At night lighting needs improving hence 4 stars
