We was looking forward to dining at Scotts Greenock for my husband’s birthday and enjoyed the food and in-meal service, but I left feeling upset by how the bill was handled.nnA discretionary service charge of just over £5 appeared on my printed receipt without any prior notification. That surprised me and caused stress — as someone mindful of their budget, discovering unexpected charges at checkout felt unsettling. I would have been willing to accept the charge if it had been explained in advance, but being surprised by it made the experience very awkward.nnWhen I raised the issue with the manager, I was told staff had charged us the wrong table. That explanation didn’t add up as that would have ment that the other table had ordered the same exact same dishes as us.... so not only was he blagging me saying it was the wrong tables bill, but he thought it would be ok to lie to me about it ????, . the charge was eventually refunded, but the encounter left me unsettled less confident about the restaurant’s billing practices.nnThis was meant to be a low-key celebration for my husband’s birthday. I had ALSO asked that “Happy Birthday” be written on a dessert plate but explicitly requested that staff do not sing — my husband dislikes attention and the singing would have made him uncomfortable. Unfortunately that preference wasn’t acknowledged, and the lady sang HAPPY BIRTHDAY. My husband was not a happy bunny after and wanted to leave ASAP the billing issue added to our disappointment.nnI hope the team will improve communication about discretionary charges and pay closer attention to guests’ celebration requests and preferences so future diners can enjoy stress-free special occasions. I’m sharing this feedback in the spirit of helping the restaurant maintain the warm, respectful experience I initially expected.
Very nice feel to the place, very nice, if rather expensive, food, and very friendly, helpful people.nnThe Moroccan lamb, I felt, had too much cous cous which made it feel dry, and there was mashed potato piped onto my plate which surprised me...nnAll in all a very nice late lunch with very nice, but costly food.
I ordered the burger which was a little over cooked for me but still good. I was not asked how I like it cooked but some places it has to be well cooked. The view was spectacular and service was great as I am picky on seed oils. They got me what I wanted with no seed oils.
Faultless experience from start to finish. Service by staff exemplary. Surrounding area was spotless clean and joy to be in. Served by a Gentleman who greeted us and showed such respect and an interest in our visit and where we were going on our cruise. The flat white coffee was hot and of excellent quality. We were even given some shortbread which was yummy. Can't fault the service. Access to the venue was via 26 step staircase but large lift available at entrance for wheelchair and large electric wheelchairs and not forgetting families with buggies. There were normal mens and ladies toilets and an easily accessible Disabled toilet and wash basin. The disabled toilet was situated in the corner so backing your wheelchair in you would slide across to your left if unable to stand and transfer. The facilities were spotless. The ambience and the fact we got a window table was superb. The food coming out to the other table looked exquisite.nCan't fault this venue and highly recommend and will use again when back here in the future. 10/10 venue.
My partner and myself had a lovely dinner on the Itison 4 course plus cocktail deal. We went at 12 on a Thursday and the place filled up quite quick so if you want a quieter dining experience I would go when it opens.nAll the food was great and drinks as you would expect. The portion sizes where really good and better than expected. Staff where great throughout. There is a nice rooftop beer garden with excellent views over the Clyde.
