I love gingerbread. But any gingerbread I've ever had within my lifetime doesn't come close to the majesty of this gingerbread. The flavour is amazing, with the perfect amount of that sweet and slightly fiery ginger, and the texture is perfect too. Soft and buttery, but still with a crunch. We visited one morning to get a sample, and returned later the same day to stock up before we were leaving Grasmere for home. Don't be put off by the queue - it moves quickly and you won't be disappointed!
Very unique textured and flavoured gingerbread, moreish and flavoursome. The gingerbread fudge is one of the best sweets I’ve eaten in my life. Incredibly friendly service and lovely quaint shop. Must visit if you’re in the Lakes. Great to buy gifts for loved ones.
Beautifully presented old fashioned shop with staff wearing mob caps. The gingerbread is good too. Surprisingly cheap Kendal Mint Cake sold here for much less than you pay in the many outdoor gear shops.
Been coming here since I was 6 years old and they're still fantastic as ever. The gingerbread is so unique and delicious, we always make sure to drop by whenever we come up to the lakes. Just take note of tourist seasons/weekends as the queue can get long, but it's always worth the wait.
Is one of a kind shop and you’ll love it - even if not a gingerbread fan like me! There are queues always and the store is tiny but the stuff is brilliant! Only matched by the smiling, and patient staff at the counter. Not to be missed the gingerbread was worth all the effort!!
I love coming here, the staff are always so polite and welcoming. Me and my partner always stop off for ice cream and gingerbread because it’s the best in the uk!! Such a unique flavour you cannot find anywhere else and fits perfectly with a coffee! 100% recommend popping in and grabbing some sweet treats even if you don’t like gingerbread there’s plenty more to choose from
Lovely products. From gingerbread, jams and butter. Hot toddy which was very welcoming on the winter. Even have hand sanitizer and lip balm. Very quaint and ladies serving in costume was lovely. Gift tote bags available to carry all your goodies home.
Gorgeous, quaint and feels like you've stepped back in time. The whole experience was picturesque and had a rich historical element. The gingerbread was rich, delicious and definitely worth going back for.
I heard about this place for years so while I was on holiday in Ambleside I thought I'd visit. Very very small inside so expect to wait outside if it's busy and there is no shelter outside. The smell wafting out the door was beautiful, it made me excited to enter. I wasn't sure about the price I paid 4.50 for 6 slice's I thought it was reasonable. It tasted unreal. Me and my daughter ate them outside in the rain. It was worth it.
1st of all the products here are really nice. There is always a queue here. The shop is tiny but there are alot of items within it. I felt extremely rushed in here as it feels like everyone just goes in says how many pieces of gingerbread they would like in out job done. We did try to look around as we wanted more than just gingerbread we decided with fudge but like I said it seems like Aldi almost like they were on a timer. Anyway great product lovely treat rather expensive but I prefer shopping local.
