1 star for the extreme health and safety rules. Example Hi Viz must be warn even whilst driving a truck. Salvo lock fitted, keys handed in sit on a wooden chair for 3 hours whilst loading. Make sure you have your hi Viz vest done up all the way to the top. No wonder drivers are leaving the industry.
I am working in Ashton green cold call . At 4 am, I called the manager to inform them that the cab they booked for me hadn’t arrived. They promised to look into it and call me back, but I never received a call. After three attempts, the office instructed me to wait … . I informed the duty manager at 3:40 am, but still didn’t receive any updates. When the manager called me at 4:30 am, she accused me of missing my shift. She claimed that the person I spoke to earlier was someone else. Instead of apologizing, they accused me of laziness so when I told her that I wakeup 2.30 and waiting for cab from 3.00 am ,she said she don’t care from how long I am waiting and when I wake up , Their rudeness and lack of concern for employees are unacceptable. So from now I want to stop doing work for them as manager has no sense that how to talk in polite way .
Security at gate house great and polite. Shunter who give your your bay number great and helpful.nnWhy one star? Well this is were it all falls apart. Office staff don't speak to you, just leave you standing there. Quick at loading then you have to wait hour are more for paper work.nnNow this is my biggest grip. Your not allowed to sit in your unit, because of health and safety. So, you sit in the canteen on not so uncomfortably chairs. It's noisy so no shut eye. By law your not aloud to have a break because you not free to do what you wish. Why you can't sit in you cab is beyond me, I mean you put a lock on your red air line and hand your keys in. They go on about health and safety it a joke when I'm starting at 3am driver to Samworths for 8 ish. Can't have a proper rest shut eye wait till 10.30 then driver back to yard 3 1/2 hours away. Ok I can stop on way back to yard, but load ends up being late. Plus you can't even split you unit. As for the food.....its cheap and a good job to.
It's a Good place to work. All the staff members are very friendly.
