Wonderful choice of books on art and other matters. Inspirational place. The art is amazing...the gallery space outstanding. Friendly helpful staff we asked to leave our suitcase as we were staying over and didn't want to drag it round with us. We return annually for gifts, cards etc. And always will
This place was absolutely fabulous. I had no idea about the history of Saltaire and was in awe of it. The video presentation which was roughly 40-50 minutes was hugely informative. There's something for everyone here be it art, architecture, history, eateries, antiques. Well worth a visit. My only regret is that I didn't have enough time to fully take in all the information about the production side of things. You could easily spend a full day here!
Brilliant day out for the family, plenty to see and do. Despite going on a bank holiday weekend, it wasn't too busy at all and had a great atmosphere with friendly and helpful staff. We had a great meal which was delicious, fresh and reasonably priced. Lots to see in the surrounding area too.
What an incredible place this is! I love the history behind it all and the philanthropy is evident all around. Artworks, home furnishings and large restaurant complete the experience. You can also walk along the canal towpath to bingley only 3 miles away to see the amazing five rise locks.
What a great place - stunning building and fascinating content the galleries and the shops. The Hockney exhibitions are hugely engaging. The shops are equally engaging - exhibitions in their own right. Loads to explore outside too.
A friend recommended a trip here and I spent a good couple of hours mooching around all the floors in the building.... lots of local artisans, concession shops, art installations, museum pieces, as well as David Hockney artworks. Plenty of places to grab food or a coffee, so don't stop at the first place you come across! Free parking.
One of the finest gallery spaces I have ever visited. The building itself is awe inspiring, and featured fantastic, vast exhibitions from David Hockney and photographer Ian Beesley. Super nice!
It was hard to guess from just looking at the building built in 1853, that it would have so much information about the history of Salt Mills, a beautiful gallery of paintings by the famous David Hockney, creating using an iPad, an amazing cafe & diner, antique & jewelry section, beautiful display of 3D paper cards, really showed the much appreciated “Making” culture of the folks of the Saltaire village society. I was overall very impressed with the plethora of ingenious Artwork and vintage collection, that I mostly saw in the movies, absolutely loved being here!!!Outside of the salts mill, was a beautiful park for friends & families to spend quality time in nature together:
Not quite what I expected was hoping for original machinery in the museum but that only occupies one room and the history is primarily told through video. The rest of the amazing space is filled with David Hockney exhibition and various artisan shops, more than enough to peruse on a day out. The food on offer is good but the restaurant was very busy. Well worth a trip.
A wonderful vibrant gallery!! Displaying gorgeous wooden interior. Loved the art exhibition & artefacts. An art lover’s paradise & wonderful displays. Beautiful porceline vases. So glad to have visited. A must see exhibition
