Being here many times, on most occasions fish and chips are alright apart from one time where the fish was very dry and no taste. I threw it out. The chips always came in hugh portions and can be soggy at times.
Find this place very hit and miss on quality with more bad experiences than good. Chips tend to be either raw in the middle or stale where they have been out a long time. If it's busy get very small portion of half cooked chips. Staff friendly just a shame that they can't consistently cook chips to an eatable standard every time
Shame, used to be an ok chippy but in the last 6 months me and local friends have found the batter soggy and chips oily, soggy and cold. Disappointing overall so resolved to give up on the place 3 months ago. Gave it one last try today and wished I hadn't. Big portions so value for money, if the food were of value. Nice staff, poor food.
Sorry chaps I tried to ring you but you did not answer your phone. I bought chicken and chips from you today. On my previous visit i bought fish and chips, The fish and chips were dry and old. i thought i was just unlucky. The chicken and chips were just as bad with stale chips and chicken leg that must have been hours old dry and shrunken. Your business will suffer if you keep this up. I give you 1 star because I have to
You can tell they have a 1 hygiene rating! Chips were soggy and oily. We found more than one hair! Asked for salt and vinegar and I'm pretty sure there was no salt. Generally awful. Should have gone with my instinct and walked out before ordering really.
A filling meal but not good quality. Portion sizes are much more than expected, i woulf prefer better quality and less quantity. The shop itself you use a clean the tiling and fixtures have a thin layer of grease all over. If your not to fussy and just fancy a greasy meal this place is average at best.
I would like to confirm that this is still the worst chippy I have ever had. I have lived here for a year and tried to give them a chance, but I can't do it anymore. Anyone who has left a good review is either a friend or had their tastebuds destroyed in a freak accident. Avoid. Do not give them anymore money until they sort themselves out.
Used to be my fave Abingdon chippy but sadly last 2-3 visits not been so good. Chips tonight after the street fair tasted reheated and/or oil needed changing.
Very pleased with my fish and chips from here, I got a lot more than i was expecting for my money. I was also impressed with the sheer amount of stuff on the menu in shop.
Salamis fish bar will open March 25th with a new look and a new name we look forward to welcoming our customers and we would like to thank our customers for the patience while work is being done.
