Food was excellent, and the atmosphere was lovely. the noodle portions were rather big but tasted good.
We had the chicken katsu and vegetarian ramen for takeout. Both were good but we weren't blown away, the atmosphere in the restaurant seemed really nice though!Food: 3/5
Decent Japanese-only food i.e. no fusion of other asian styles with sushi, noodles, and regional specialty dishes like okonomiaki. Sushi nigiri pieces are too small and without wasabi under the fish. Starters karaage and gyoza seem like they are from frozen foods section. Soup noodles e.g. ramen and udon have nice flavor only tried vegetarian broth, they also have beef & pork combo broth but no chicken only broth. Food service could be timed better.
I went to Sakura last night for dinner with three of my friends. We all absolutely loved it! Such a diverse menu which meant we took our time deciding and had a range of dishes. The food came quickly and was delicious! We’ll definitely be back again!! Very affordable prices!!Food: 5/5
Very good address We came at 6 and a little late but the restaurant was kind enough to accept us. The decoration is charming and worked it corresponds to the atmosphere. The waitress is great, very professional and friendly. The food is generous, the Chashu ramen is a value for my part, quite a lot of pork strips which is very appreciated, the broth is maybe a little less fatty than expected but finally it's not bad considering the size, the other guests liked it. Special mention for a friend who discovered this cuisine and liked the bento very much. The quality-price ratio is acceptable.
Been going to Sakura for years, portions became smaller and smaller but tonight was absolutely too much. Had to wait 1h20m for takeaway and the salmon platter was absolutely disgraceful: 2 sashimi instead of 3, no roe whatsoever and barely any salmon in the maki.. This for 19€? Sorry Sakura, never again.Food: 1/5
Excellent experience, the food was delicious but for 15 euros I wouldn't mind a larger quantity on my plate. Apart from that, the staff was very kind, and the atmosphere is very cosy. Food: 5/5
Food was extremely delicious. My wife and I had the kimchi seafood stew and the soft shell crab sushi roll. The stew was out of this world. Balance of spicy and savoury and also very nice to have it hot during this cold weather. The sushi was delicious too. We even order one to go before heading back home. The amount of meat in the stew was a lot. A bit on the pricey side but worth every penny. Friendly staff amd nice environment. Also provided a complimentary green tea upon seating. Service was fast but keep in mind there was just ourselves and another 2 groups eating at that time. Would recommend anyone in Cork in search of Asian/Japanese sushi. Would try it again when back in Cork. Washroom was clean as well.
In my opinion Sakura is the best Japanese restaurant in Cork, together with Miyazaki, depending on what you want to eat. At Sakura you have much more variety. I like a lot the Seafood Ramen even if sometimes is better than others. Makis are also very good, good amount of fish.
Have been going here for years but quality of food and value really went downhill compared to our other favourite Japanese in Oliver's Plunkett St. Size of chicken katsu curry reduced by easily 30%, while increasing the price by 2€. I totally understand it's a business that needs to work towards profitability but compared to other restaurants in Cork, it is falling behind. On top of that, we used a voucher to pay for the bill and were refused the change of around 12€ as an written adjustment on the voucher card - which is illegal in Ireland. We were told that "everyone is doing it" which is a total lie as we used plenty of vouchers in the past 5 yrs and always received our change in form of an adjustment on the voucher card and "the management told us". They were two young girls working there and I totally get it that they do what their management is telling them - but as noted above, it is illegal practice, and how can you bring young people in that position of making false claims? Very disappointing experience - not recommended and we won't return
