Sakonis Restaurant

About

Welcome to 'Sakonis', we are a pure vegetarian restaurant drawing on a varied culinary inspiration ranging from Gujarat (India) to China.

Story

Sakonis is an exclusively vegetarian, casual, family restaurant specialising in vegetarian dishes from across india. Sakonis pioneered some famous dishes that have transformed the indian vegetarian fast food industry and have been copied and created across the UK and beyond. At Sakonis, you can treat yourself to a wide range of snacks including the well known samosa (spiced vegetables stuffed in a triangular pasty), classic Indian street food including Bhel (puffed rice, crushed puri and vegetables mixed in a tangy and sweet tamarind sauce) and Pau Bhaji (mish mash of steamed vegetables, cooked in a spicy tomato and onion gravy, served with hot buttered pav), south indian treats such as Masala Dosa ( a thin and crispy savoury pancake made from lentils and rice) and wholesome Indian inspired sandwiches and wraps! In addition, the menu ties itself to it’s East African roots with indian flavoured dishes using mogo (cassava). Sakonis was one of the first restaurants to pioneer one of the most famous vegetarian Indo-Chinese dishes of all time – Paneer Chilli (Deep fried chunks of paneer sautéed in a tangy chinese sauce.) Our perfected recipe is so beloved that we have often been told we serve the best Paneer Chilli in town. Sakonis chefs have been making some of the classic dishes and home-made chutneys for over 25 years and are continuously improving the taste and quality. Long standing customers who have visited the restaurant for years know exactly what to expect when they visit!

One can also indulge in the all you can eat lunch & dinner buffet at Sakonis (breakfast on weekends too) which includes the popular savoury snacks but also has tasty curries, rice dishes and sweets. This is perfect for large groups who want a little bit of everything!

Sakonis is heaven for all vegetarian food lovers and has something for everyone whether you need a break from a busy shopping spree or just want to treat yourself to some homemade indian grub!

You can also visit Sakonis Juice Bar for a range of fresh juices – we have also jumped on the bandwagon with our very own version of Green Juice and Red Juice and added a range of smoothies and milkshakes to the menu. Another one of our top sellers is the Sakonis Faluda ; the perfect indian milkshake. This is a perfect sweet cooler after a spicy indian meal or can also be enjoyed as a treat on a hot summers day. It is made out of rose syrup flavoured milk, sev, takmaria and topped off with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream drizzled with strawberry sauce.

One of our most famous dishes is 'Paneer Chilli’ (picture attached) which consists of chunks of indian cheese tossed in green chillies & veggies with a spicy blend of chinese & indian flavour. In July 2015, we sold over 1300 portions of Paneer Chilli!

Little bit of history:

Situated in the heart of 'Little India'; the bustling Ealing Road full of shops selling all sorts from your household necessities to the latest fashion saris and the most exotic fresh fruit and vegetables. The Sakonis brand started off as one of the first fruit & vegetable market stalls and slowly grew to a worldwide known brand representing homemade, fresh tasty vegetarian snacks. This family owned and run business was driven by quality vegetarian food, fresh ingredients, tested recipes and a friendly face to greet the customers. In it's early days, the Sakonis restaurant brand was truly one of a kind offering the perfect balance of specialities from all across India along with a slight influence of East-African delights including such as mogo (cassava). The restaurant grew from a snack bar to serving a full - fledged a la carte menu, an extensive lunch & dinner buffet, grab & go snack bar and a savoury snack (farsan) shop.

We had our evening snacks here: pani puri, Punjabi samosa, and Indian coffee. The food was okay overall. However, the Punjabi samosa was frozen inside, so I complained, and they kindly removed it from the bill. The Indian coffee was made with powdered milk instead of fresh milk, which was disappointing. On the bright side, the pani puri was excellent!
The food was great we had dahi vada, kachori, chow mein and chole bhature.nThe ambiance is fine with music.nI think they need to improve the service because there was only one guy and he was on the phone with head down and had to wait 10 minutes to get his attention.nDefinitely visit it again.
Came here for my mums birthday on a Saturday. It was very busy so definitely recommend booking a table. We all opted for the buffet which was the most cost efficient option. The food was delicious, I expected a bit more variety with the curries as there was quite a lot of paneer. And more variety needed with desserts too. However it was all really delicious and I would definitely eat here again. The staff were really friendly, service was a bit slow though.
My regular restaurant and always I enjoy delicious food there. We were served by Ravi. Very friendly and service was with smile.
Nice clean pure vegetarian restaurant. We had the buffet. So much choice and variety. Good value for money. Only disappointing factor was we were charged a service charge! Wasn't happy about that considering we go get our own food. We ordered nothing else except 2 buffets and 1 passion drink. Service charge was just under £6. Not great.
