Beautiful church. So light and calm inside off the main high street. The free/donation Sunday afternoon concerts are fantastic. 45 mins of beautifully presented classical music. November 2021 was given on violin, viola and chello. Thank you.
Next to traffic lights and can show a good view from the road, looking good back garden yard to sit in too. Distinctive clock sound as well.
A distinctly Anglo-Catholic church with a strong tradition of musical concerts and solo recitals. St Michael's has one of the best pipe organs in Lewes. The churchyard outside the north wall is an unexpected oasis of quiet next to an often busy high street. Look for the stories in the stained glass; the only place in town where you will find a cat and a dog in successive windows. In the east window is a piece of appropriate modernity. Fixed to the round stone tower one of only three in all Sussex is a fierce statue of St. Michael, photographed by many. The church is open daily. Because of its importance in the town, there are many services including daily offices, and so a visitor must not be surprised if their exploration is impossible at a particular hour.
The oldest Church of our lovely town, originally the chapel of the Castle. Some parts are from the 13th century.
Wonderful church, most of which, was built from 14th to 15th centuries, but sadly no medieval glass.
