I've only been a couple of times but I've only had very friendly staff and great care. It's quite busy so you have to expect delays and occasionally, people have bad days, even the doctors and nurses that help so many. Typical reviews are only from people that have had a bad experience.

It's a GP's surgery so expect to wait ages to get an appointment and for your appointment time to be behind scheduled allocation. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Totaly useless, staff are rude and they NEVER seem to have availability. My girlfriend was knocked down by a car and banged her head, covered in cuts and bruses and despite being a member for over 40 years, they just told her they had no appointments and to call back later. This place needs a massive shakeup!

A total disgrace to the NHS and a risk to Health. My partner suffered a knee injury in an RTA; he was hit by a car whilst walking on the pavement. He repeatedly went to St Mary's asking for advice and help as his knee was painful and causing him difficulties. He was dismissed each time and told it would heal. After 2 YEARS, it was only getting worse and he decided enough was enough and went to a walk-in centre to get help. The Doctor immediately identified the problem and referred him for an appointment at Addenbrooke's Hospital with a specialist, who just as quickly diagnosed the problem and started making arrangements for surgery!! All this had been completely missed by St Mary's!! Both the Walk-in doctor and the specialist identified that with his knee in its current condition, he should not be at work (doing a very physical job, on his feet 10+ hours a day, running on hard ground and dragging heavy loads) so he should be signed off pending surgery. This was reported back to St Mary's, as his registered GP surgery, and he was signed off. For two weeks. After two weeks, he contacted them, both acknowledged that the surgical appointment had not been confirmed and they signed him off a further 2 weeks. The surgery has now been scheduled to mid-May. His knee has not made any kind of miraculous recovery... if it didn't after 2 years and with two professionals; one a specialist, agreeing it needs surgery... yet the GP's at St Mary's clearly disagree and refused to sign him off further without examining him. YET they cannot provide an appointment for THREE WEEKS!! So he is now listed at work as "Unpaid Sick" as even though they're aware of the surgery, they cannot pay him without a doctor's certificate that states he's unfit for work. So he either has to return to work and cause even further damage to his knee... damage that could have been limited YEARS ago if St Mary's had been focused on patient welfare and less hung up on getting patients out the door.. or we lose almost a months income! This. Is. Appalling. The sick note is a formality as the specialists opinion supersedes that of a local General Practitioner; yet dragging him into the practice and possibly even suggesting that they may not sign him off further is utterly unacceptable, adding stress on top of the knowledge that he has to face surgery. Perhaps if they wasted less time with nonsense like this, their patients wouldn't have to wait 3 WEEKS for an appointment and they wouldn't need to issue letters full of excuses why their appointment availability is so atrocious. Blame all the employee leavers and missed appointments you like, every GP Surgery faces this... yet I have never come across one so poorly managed. Want more availability? Stop wasting time when it could be done over the telephone! Or did St Mary's GP's suddenly become knee specialists? Or magical healers, perhaps? What will wasting their time and ours tell them about his knee that you couldn't identify 2 years ago? An utter shambles. I dread to think how many people could possibly be on deaths door, or worse, because of their failure to look beyond the clock to the person sat in front of them. In some circumstances, a 3 week wait can be the difference between life and death... imagine what damage can be done in 2 years. Perhaps they're great at prescribing antibiotics, or just convenient for repeat prescriptions... if you need real help or any type of investigation to get the appropriate treatment, find a real practice who actually care about patient welfare.

This is the largest of the local surgeries in Ely. There are three things I like about this, the parking, the pharmacy & the large waiting room. Friendly faces & efficient service make this a pleasure to visit.
