"Oh no, not another Sainsburys in Surbiton" was the much heard response from many when this branch was announced.
To be fair, the other Sainsburys (the big one) is down at the complete other end of the high street and has standard opening hours whereas this one serves a completely different purpose.
This is a 'Local' which has great opening hours and being bang next door to the train station is perfect for picking up that last minute thing for dinner/breakfast/late-night snack.
Even for a local, the opening hours of this branch are a godsend and I've found myself there late at night mingling with returning commuters.
The main thing about this branch is how they've managed to fit so much into the wonderful art deco Surbiton station. They've done a tremendous job, it's like the tardis and they've kept many of the original features, including the wonderfully light ceiling which allows in sunlight should weather permit.

Fair selection for a small store, rarely any queue
