I'd previously left an ambivalent review for this branch of Sainsbury's, due to lack of staff and difficult car parking primarily. However, the last few visits have all been very positive: Well stocked aisles and more staff assisting at the self-checkouts than I'd found previously. Car parking is less flexible than it used to be, but at least it's easier to find a space now, more room upstairs than on the ground floor of the car park. Overall a good improvement - well done.
A sunday visit at miday turned into a nightmare. Parking almost impossible, store understaffed as always. Main tills closed apart from 2 available, self service 15 deep queuing. Smart shop, had to ask for guns as none on holder's at entrance. When queued 10 deep to pay, the checkout requested that an assistant would be with me as I was randomly chosen for a check, incase I'm stealing! I waited 10 mins, no staff around, I couldn't visually see any one, customers queue getting bigger and bigger so I walked out of store and left all behind. I will not be going back there again. Its a day out to just go shopping at the brentwood store!!!
Trusted this store for a while, but went in there yesterday there was meat in the fridge, a lot of it grey and clearly very discoloured and some unsafe to consume in my opinion although they were in date . There was blood stains on the fridge shelves from spillages on the meat that have not been cleared which is contaminating the other packing! The salmon fridge had a very strong smell as if there was a leakage pretty bad, you shouldn’t smell vacuum sealed salmon right? I feel like either they aren’t being stored quick enough or not put back properly on a shelf after people look at them.
Edit 15/09/25: Photos from earlier today. Why is the Sainsbury’s bakery so dysfunctional? No baguettes, rolls or fresh bread.nnThe bakery is not fit for purpose. Can someone from Sainsbury’s Springfield, Chelmsford please go on secondment to the Brentwood branch and show them how to produce tasty, fresh bread. They can also demonstrate how it is possible to have crusty rolls early in the morning and not delayed until almost lunch time.
Seems the store manager is killing this store. Staff are inattentive and the floor is atrocious. Customer toilets have been closed again, after the bs story put out about sewer problems in the high street, although in my 20 years being a resident, have never heard such baloney. This used to be a great store. I know travel further to Tescos for a better shopping experience.
