Booked to stay here for a week last winter. Enjoyed it so much that we immediately booked another week following. Such a lovely, clean supermarket. Friendly staff. Vegan options. Recommended!
Quite a small store despite exterior giving the impression it's huge. Has a good selection of produce at good prices, accessible parking and entrance. The outside near the tram stank of pee and Oldham councillors need to get a grip, worst town centre in GM with historic building left to rot, quite depressing but not Sainbury's fault! The petrol station has good prices, a lot cheaper than Manchester. Staff helpful.
Sainsbury's is generally a good place to shop. However, customer service is not always the best. At least not at the Oldham branch. Customers who shop in the evening appear to be treated like a thorn in the staffs side! Frequently there are no manned tills open in the early evening, just self serve check outs. So anybody doing a medium to large size shop is left struggling. We had 2 trolley loads which means it is not easy to use the self serve check out. It was 8.30p.m. so not exactly close to closing time. We asked politely if a conveyor belt staff served till could be opened, which was met with disdainful hostility and rudeness. After two initial refusals from 2 members of staff, as an after thought one stepped in and radio'd for approval to open a conveyer belt till. Are customers really such a pain in the neck? Don't customers mean profits and profits means jobs?!! Nor am I aware that customers serving themselves get additional discount on their shopping bills for saving the supermarket money on their staff salaries! Managers who make decisions to pare down staffing levels to an absolute minimum, to keep their profits high, need to consider the effects those decisions have on staff morale as well as customer satisfaction.nPeople do need to shop in the evenings for all kinds of reasons, hence why supermarkets stay open until late! Does that mean late shoppers are looked down on? This is not our first experience of hostile attitudes from this store. Respect and helpfulness towards customers costs nothing and surely being nice to people generates niceness in return! As well as encouraging customers to return to shop in their store?! Sainsbury's staff did eventually step up to the mark and opened a conveyor belt till for us, which we thanked them for. But service with a smile rather than irritated resentment would have been preferred!nN.B. There are other large and small supermarkets in the area who always keep one or two staff manned tills open. With a smile!nI think giving 3 stars is generous, 2 1/2 would be my preference.nn*** I've been prompted to update my views. Sorry to say nothing has changed at the Oldham branch! When they do have a staff served till open it's usually just one, management clearly don't care about the huge queue backing up the aisles! The staffs at the Ashton branch are much more amenable and helpful.
Watch for the Sim card most of them have expired,and if u buy something on offer,check u didn't pay full price because the leave the offer stickers on long after the offer has ended,carnt stand the place.
Love the home section very stylish and unique, lovely selection of clothes and huge car park as it takes a couple of hours to walk through. Always clean great deals on and has toilets.
