I really wanted to give Saigon City a good review, as they’re local and very friendly but the food has let them down. So much so that we haven’t eaten it all and had to chuck a lot away. And for foodies, that’s really not okay. I ordered a meat spring roll and it was soo greasy, the oil was oozing out of it and the roll itself didn’t taste like it was cooked enough. The satay sauce didn’t taste of peanuts, very strange aftertaste and extremely salty. A couple of okay dishes that we did eat pork ribs, chow mein, crispy shredded beef but nothing amazing. I personally wouldn’t recommend it or go back.
we started to use Saigon City about a year ago when we heard that the team had changed. Great food and service every time. The only issue is that we have to pay using cash.
Called before 5 just chancing it as was passing, managed to order super quick service, polite, food was lovely and cheap
Having eaten from here on and off over the last few years I think I've probably made my last visit. Still only accept cash and a set meal leaves you thinking salt and msg rather than the underlying ingredients. Normally fast service and home delivery possible but remember you'll need cash! Fills a hole if you're hungry and feeling lazy.
We have been going to Saigon City regularly for a couple of years now. The food is always lovely and the people are nice and friendly. One really big plus is a great range of vegetarian dishes using Quorn; Saigon City is the only Chinese I've found that offers such a large vegetarian selection. All the meat dishes I've tried have been delicious too. I would recommend this to anyone who's in the area. They are open lunchtimes too - so we use it for our Sunday lunch!
I've been happy with their food for a number of years but about 18 months ago I was put off by chicken that seemed a bit pink. I gave them a year and tried again. Unfortunately the chicken was still pink inside and this has put me off. I really should have said something to them at the time but I avoided the confrontation.
Have been going here for years. Used to be really greasy and full of msg.. kinda what I wanted from a Chinese, but it did make me feel guilty. Now it has all the flavour and none of the negatives. This is the only Chinese I will use from now on. Also the person on the phone was nice and helpful A*
Delicious food, prompt service. Will use this take away from now on. Every carton of food was very fresh and none greasy. I read a the reviews before I ordered. Lots of them are very negative. I'm so glad I tried it for myself. Best chinese in the area by far!!
First time I've ordered from them and will definitely be doing it again. Not live in Bedford for long and tried a few of their competitors on just eat. I hadn't found a good take away til I tried these. Great food. Quick to cook. Just a shame they dont deliver
We recently moved to the area, and one of our worries was whether the local Chinese takeaway would be as good as our old one. I'm happy to say that we were not disappointed the food was of very good quality and tasty. I'm looking forward to exploring the menu over the coming years! Edit. This is probably the most consistently good Chinese I've ever had!
