So.. on Monday my car broke down, the breakdown firm took it to Ryans garage, as it was nearing the end of the day they said they'd look at it the next day and get back to me with the fault and cost. So imagine not recieving any communication whatsoever from them and after numerous calls we still had no idea regarding the problem or cost. So I sent my 68 year old retired mechanic dad down there to look at it who quickly diagnosed the fault. A simple 1 hour job was required which I was quoted £130 + VAT. As my dad has been in the trade for years he told me this was massively overpriced, and let's not forget that it was him who found the fault not them. After calling around, I found a garage willing to do the same job for £50, so I had it towed to them and politely informed Ryans garage that a breakdown truck was on route to collect it, they charged me a 'inspection fee' of half an hour's labour, which was fascinating as they didn't diagnose anything!!
What a waste of time! I rang to see how much it would cost to get a diagnostic check on my car. It was a fair price, so I decided to book in. When I asked what time I'd need to take it in, they said "any time around 12" which I thought was rather lax, but I decided to go with it. I dropped my car off and waited around for an hour, as I was promised it wouldn't take too long to check. THREE HOURS later I found out that they still hadn't moved my car! After finding this out, they said they'd ring my directly when they'd done the diagnostic, to tell me what was wrong. A good two hours later just before closing they hadn't rang me, so I decided to ring them. They'd complete the diagnostic but didn't bother ringing me. They then told me they had no idea what was wrong with it, so they'd need to take it apart at £55 an hour to find out the source of the problem and promised they'd do this straight away the next morning. So the next day I rang them at midday to see what had happened as they're clearly not the kind of people to actually contact you and they said they hadn't even looked at it yet. Considering this place opens at 8am and it was now midday, it shows they have no work order. So I waited until 3 o'clock when I drove down there, to find my car hadn't even moved. I told them I wanted my keys back and I'd take it somewhere else as they were clearly wasting my time, and they claimed they'd never said they'd have it done by any time, which was just an outright lie! Even worse they charged me for the diagnostic, and didn't give me a write up on the results, just the bill. Total waste of time - Total waste of money. Avoid at all costs!
I took my car in for new tyres and tracking. I asked the guys if they could have a look at the convertible roof and the boot on my C3 Pluriel as both had not worked for nearly year and I had decided to not get them fixed as I was quoted £3,500 and told I needed a new roof by a well known Bristol garage. Imagine my happiness and surprise when the found and fixed the problem for £167.00 + vat! I'm so happy with the workmanship and now have a working roof and boot! But, the customer service was also excellent, I received regular updates by phone from Tony, who kept me updated on progress and cost along the way. I would highly recommend Ryans Garage, a really professional set up with a personal touch.
First took my campervan in for aircon re gas. Excellent job at a good price. Then took my 1973 Mercedes SL in for a gearbox oil change but was well below minimum so only required top up. Whilst they had it, their V8 expert managed to sort out a misfire and get the kick down working...it now runs like a dream! Would have got 5/5 but left my 'baby' out in the rain when I had asked for it to be kept under cover but no real harm done. Taking my ML in next week to sort out sensor so all being well, they'll get a 5 next time!
Very professional and friendly bunch of people. First time I went to them I had a groupon voucher for air conditioning test and re-gas and that was very good value for money. They explained it all and advised me that my condenser was leaking, common fault with Meganes and it will only hold the gas for a couple of weeks. They quoted a very good price to replace the condenser and now it is like an ice age in my car :
I had my car service and MOT last week with Ryan's garage after previously taking my car to KIA for the last 4 years. Ryan's garage managed to fix two problems with my car that KIA had failed to fix in the last 4 years!! One problem being my car alarm which was fixed, much to my amazement in under a minute!! Fantastic service and great price under half the price that KIA charged i found the staff to be very friendly and helpful and would definitely recommend Ryan's garage to anyone in the future.
I took my car there for new tyres ordered through Black circles. They were very friendly and texted me when it was ready. I found them to be very efficient and will definitely use them for future repairs.
I agree with the previous reviewers, It took 3 days to pass the MOT and im still not convinced what was wrong, first one thing, then another, then another -gradually getting more expensive. When i mentioned the bill will end up being more was more than the car was worth, suddenly it passed its MOT with minimal cost. So overall i found it expensive. The garage however kept me updated with every issue and did no work without my prior authorisation so there were no surprises when the car bill arrived. The wash & wax was non existent though unfortunately
....decided to get my scruffy VW Transporter washed...it’ll never be pretty but it can at least be clean. Called Ryan’s Garage as the automated car wash in Portishead was closed. Booked the vehicle in...got there on time...the booking wasn’t in the system...no worries...asked how long it would be...”a few hours” was the answer and £15...no problem....Took it around to the wash area and the gentleman doing the washing was very polite and positive and said it was only an external wash and it would be about twenty minutes...Ideal.....came back vehicle appeared to have been washed.....paid the £15.....HOWEVER!....when I looked to see if they’d washed the roof...they had NOT!!!....went inside to bring this up and was told that “due to health and safety ladder, 2 persons present etcvan roofs never get washed unless an extra charge is made” Whilst I appreciate and respect the need for Health and Safety regulations, I also appreciate being informed of this prior to agreeing to a service. When I pay to have my vehicle washed ...I don’t expect to have only 60% of it cleaned. No apology was given, no remorse, no solution offered, nothing that resembled customer service whatsoever. It probably borders on a violation of the Trades Description Act.....so be warned make sure you get all the information beforehand from these cowboys because they certainly won’t offer it. ...This is my first ever Google review and I hope someone reads it.....
I hired a van from Ryans and was impressed with the newness and cleanliness of the vehicle. Imagine how devastated I was when I spilt white paint in the back ! I managed then to get paint everywhere even on the seats trying to mop it up. I returned the van and Phil was very calm and said he would get it sorted. Despite the mess I was amazed and delighted to be charged a very fair amount from my deposit for valeting the van . I found Ryans didn't take advantage of the accident and that needs to be said as its really important to know you will be treated fairly when these things happen
