This place had been on my to-do list for many years and I'm glad that I've finally got around to visiting. A very interesting building with much history. I would recommend paying the extra for an audio tour as it will help you get so much more out of your visit. My only criticism is that photography is not allowed inside the Pavilion which was disappointing as the interior is very impressive.

This has been firmly aimed at the tourists, you won't find any of the Brighton locals going in there as they know how dear it is, you will be charged to use the electronic guides for those of us where English is not the mother tongue. That said the souvenir shop is very good and the tour overall is very detailed and well laid out. Thought they were a tad shy with the truth when proudly stating that the pavilion was used as a hospital to treat the coloureds and the blacks during the first and second world wars, they neglected to mention that this was partly because blacks and coloureds were not allowed to be treated in the general hospitals at that time. If you are just in the area is well worth a visit.

Loved my visit to the Royal Pavillion. Opted not to have the £2 audio guide but would choose it if I went again. Rooms were impressive and restoration work has been done flawlessly. Lovely little touches in each area, especially the kitchen. No photos can be taken inside which is brilliant and helps to make the visit more enjoyable. Also half-price discount for residents.

Really enjoyed our trip to the pavilion. We didn't get an audio guide but would recommend doing so as there are some but not very many information sheets around. The pavilion has a really rich history (from being a lavish royal pad to a war hospital) and it was a very interesting visit. Would recommend buying the history pass ticket which gets you into the Brighton Museum and Preston Manor as well.

Fascinating palace- the only English one not owned by the royal estate. Unique in architecture and decor; Prince, later King, George’s uber-extravagant pleasure palace. The central banqueting hall takes your breath away with its central 12-foot dragon atop a ton of chandelier! Really worthwhile visiting after several years of walking past. Great they have a heavily-discounted entrance fee for local residents. Good shop at the end.
