Ate a delicious, hearty meal with ample choice I’m vegan and the staff were all so lovely and considerate. Didn’t have our dogs with us on this occasion but it was great to see dogs welcomed with water and treats readily available. Would definitely come again
We had a lovely stay at the Royal Oak in October. We had the Garden Room and the Acorn House booked for the night before our wedding with me as the Groom and my Best Men in the Garden Room. The Garden Room was ideal for what we needed, big enough for 3 adults with the addition of the sofa bed and just off from the beer garden. My wife and her family stayed in Acorn House which is just over the road from the pub was a beautiful country house with its own parking. Pictures on the website don't do it justice! Very clean, plenty of space and dog friendly in the kitchen and dining area only. Had 1 twin room and 3 doubles, including the master bedroom on the top floor which was huge with an ensuite. We also had a meal booked for the same night for all 9 of us which was delicious, and the cocktails were also great with fantastic service and friendly staff. Thanks for a great stay!
We had a fantastic stay at the Royal Oak with our dog. The pub and the rooms are beautiful. Last night we booked a table for an evening meal and the ham, egg and chips was out of this world. I’m a fan of real ale so it was great to see three handpumps on the bar. My wife had an espresso martini and it was lovely. Breakfast was just as good. Great choices but we both went for the full English with thick sliced toasst and butter. Before breakfast we took our dog on a 30 minute walk to nearby Preston Park and she loved it. All of the staff we met during the stay were friendly and always wanted to help. It really was first-class customer service. We stayed in the Garden Room. The one thing that made us laugh was when we couldn’t find the television. We thought ‘no problem. We don’t need a TV. Then we spotted a remote control and were confused . The large mirror on the cabinet is the TV. It took us by surprise
Lovely staff seated us in a cosy upstairs dining room which has been sensitively renovated. The bar downstairs is small and busy so if you're eating, definitely go up Menu was mostly pub classics but with a few nice additions. Everything was spot on.
Lovely pub and will always come here for a drink, but in my opinion it has gone dramatically downhill. Quality of food now distinctly average, service poor with the majority of staff moping about in shorts. Manager should lead by example but is exceptionally rude for what was a large booking.
We came up to Tetbury from London for the weekend and went to the royal oak today for a Sunday roast luckily we booked yesterday it was very popular! Hands down one of, if not the best roast my friends and I have had! We had the chicken roast and it was delicious, veggies cooked to perfection and the red cabbage was unbelievable. I can't eat onion and garlic and the waitress/chefs were so accommodating and fuss free. We had great service by all the waitresses who were so friendly. We will definitely be back soon! Thank you! Zoe
Great pub, awesome staff, cracking food. I got the chicken pie and it was fantastic. Gorgeous pasty. Got to steal my daughter's risotto, which also was cooked perfectly. Will return!
A nicely turned out pub, with 5 star facilities. Good choice of real ales - we enjoyed the Otter Ale. We visited on a Sunday lunchtime and food wise it was mostly catering for the 'Sunday lunch' ie standard meat + 2/3 veg plate. In the CAMRA Good Beer Guide 2023 the pub gets noted for it's vegan choices: sadly there were very few plant based options on offer when we visited.
We loved our meal here! We were quite a big group, and had called and ordered everything in advance. They were very helpful, as we had quite a few dietary restrictions. On the day they had prepared a lovely big table for us upstairs, which was ideal - the pub downstairs was quite busy, so we were all able to chat and still hear each other. The upstairs room was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The food was delicious - in particular the homemade soup, soufflé and creme brûlée. Everyone left very happy, thank you for helping us organise our family get together!
Ouch, ouch, ouch. 12.5% on my bill as a charge, and then they want a tip! My balls hurt. Kids loved the Vegan burgers, my ham hock , egg , and chips was OK just. But I have never had cold hollandaise, ever. Would of had desert, and come back again, but I doubt it now. Use to have Sunday lunch here twice a month for years. Sadly, post pandemic, has seen a rise in people who think they know how to do hospitality, well I am not sure. I have run a 150 seater restaurant and a nightclub, and I didn't have these issues. Use to be the best pub for miles, now she has gone, will have to start again.
