Had a good night. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the beer is reasonably priced. Definitely stay again.
Arrived and got told nothing of the time breakfast was served or anything else, just pointed in the direction of our room. Had breakfast elsewhere. Went to the room and had a drink in the bar. Room is basic but we didn’t mind as only needed a place to sleep. Tea and coffee, sky tv, and toiletries if needed. However, room was freezing and no way of putting the heating on. Bed so uncomfortable, can feel the springs in the mattress digging in our backs and the shower is awful, no power at all. Didn’t even tell us if there was wifi or if so what the code was?! No signal here so couldn’t plan our day until outside. Wouldn’t come back
0/5 will never return and advise others not to go. Arriving at the royal oak at 12 on Sunday for dinners we walked into an empty pub to be initially ignored by the staff, who then sat us down in a dark corner table, with no menus as they hadn’t been printed. Very poor choice of beers available, and once getting a menu very little options also. After ordering and waiting an hour for our food to arrive most of it was cold, the beef was completely undercooked, pink and tough, and the veg was hard barely cooked, we asked for 2 meals to go straight back for the beef to be cooked better, after 10 mins those meals never came back and as a group we decided we had seen enough and asked for all the meals to be cancelled and taken away, asking to see the manager. After a further 10 min wait no manager arrived, so we paid for our drinks and left. Luckily The White Mare pub next door could accommodate us and it was excellent.
Beautiful food and drink. Staff were attentive and the place was lovely and clean. Can't wait to go back.
Very friendly guests but little bit to work with the rooms. No cold water at the sink tap, no internet in the rooms and we couldn't open the TV we haven't asked to be fixed. Otherwise clean and decent rooms. If you are not fussy or peaky in terms of accomodation conditions you can go there.
Service was great, food was delicious, all round excellent pub ,
Pubs looks bigger than it is from front with clean relaxed enviroment. We enjoyed steak and chips as steak was cooked just right as i have it well done and my hubby has it medium rare. Also were reasonably priced deffinately reccommend .
Went for sunday lunch i opted for mac and cheese didnt fancy sunday lunch looked good when it came but it was very very dry and a bit tasteless other had the beef wasnt cooked enough very red and it was hard to cut my hubby had the best meal the chicken dinner said it was nice . Told the waiter didnt get anything knocked off bill
Starting with the positives: Staff were friendly, accomodating and for lack of a better word: nice. Also the food was extremely well presented. I feel a little bad, but the not so positives: The breakfast was grossly overpriced with the pre-cooked, under temperature hot held, over oiled mushroom, under cooked disappointment leaving me twice in quick succession as one step up from liquid. The table was falling apart and we were unable to sit in the outside garden area due to the flies and pong which resonated from the bin compound. Unfortunately I would not revisit and couldn't after a review like this, however, my experience may not be representative of the service generally as the garden was full in the evenings when we passed.
Brilliant to see the village pub back in business! Its not the biggest venue in the world but what it lacks in space it makes up for with a warm welcome and a wide variety of drinks and local ale on offer! Really impressed with the food! Catered for our large all age group perfectly last night! Reccomend a stop!
