We have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Royal Esplanade.The hotel is excellent and very clean, and is situated a short walk from the train station and bus terminal, making access to the rest of the island very easy. The staff were very welcoming and helpful, and the food was excellent. The main high street is a short walk away and is served by a good selection of restaurants and shops. We shall certainly be returning in the future.
Just what you would expect from a Victorian hotel that’s not been updated for a long time. No noise control, key card entry, air con, or USB sockets, etc. Not as fresh, bright, airy, or modern as you might like, has some character, and it’s clinging on in there powered by an enthusiastic young workforce.nRoom 74 has incredibly squeaky floorboards and provides an adequate location for sleeping and washing, but you wouldn’t want to stay in the room much longer.nThe electric shower had a loose cover which was quite dangerous.nnThe place was clean enough and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.nI only ate here for breakfast, having the buffet selection and full English, and they were adequate.nnAll in all, it was the perfect location to catch the hovercraft, go for a run and cycle, and have a mooch around for a day.
Good food plenty of it coped very well with wifes gluten free diet. Friendly staff could not do enough for you. Bus station. Train station and even hovercraft directly opposite. Big room serviced every day
The staff at the Royal Esplanade saved our bacon when our Airbnb left us in the lurch. All the staff were really friendly and accommodating.nnDecor and rooms are a bit dated, but everything worked, and we got a good night's sleep.nnBreakfast was lovely, as was the bar the night before.nnViews out the front over the sea.
Staff at the Royal Esplanade Hotel are very helpful and friendly. The service throughout our stay was excellent. The food was also good quality.nThe hotel itself is in a great location, and the rooms with a sea view are fantastic.nThe only downside is the bathroom which would benefit from being refurbished.
