We stayed for 2 nights with our 15 month old Daughter. The kitchenette and lounge facilities were perfect for us as a family. We were made to feel very welcome and felt relaxed and very well looked after at the end of the stay.

Jilly and Michael have a beautiful home which they share with their two lovely dogs. They could not do enough to help me, offering me a glass of wine, booking me a table at the local pub (which is excellent) showing me the best places to walk my dog, and generally making me feel thoroughly welcome and at home. The village of Barnack is pretty peaceful, so road noise is not an issue. I cannot comment on the amenities in the village, because I walked to and from the pub in the dark, only passing by a shop which was closed as it was after hours and a church. I was the only guest staying, so it didn't matter that I didn't have my own bathroom. It was across the passage and very convenient. It was also spotlessly clean, as was the case for the entire house, of which Jilly and Michael are clearly and justifiably proud. My bedroom was lovely and warm, and Jilly had thoughtfully provided extra blankets should they be required (they weren't!). It had a lovely view out over the fields. I also had the run of the lovely guests' sitting room which was next to my bedroom. It has tv, family games and plenty of space for a family of five to lounge in comfortably if they happened to be house-bound due to bad weather. The guests' kitchen is also very handy for the bedrooms, and opposite the sitting room. There's a good sized glass dining table, kettle, fridge, toaster, the usual things. But also lots of tupperware to borrow for picnics and excursions, chocolate biscuits too. Very thoughtful. I elected not to have a cooked breakfast as I had to leave very early, but they would have been only to happy to oblige me had I wanted one. Instead I was provided with the cereal, bread and honey that I asked for - all of which was delicious. Rowan House would suit singles, couples, dog-owners, families. All visitors in fact. Jilly and Michael have clearly thought out their accommodation to be as flexible as possible, and the proximity of the house to some excellent dog-walking was a real bonus for my dog and I. I would heartily recommend Rowan House.
