Rothwell Primary School is a one and a half form entry school, with a 52 place Nursery.
We are situated in the town of Rothwell in South Leeds.
Rothwell Primary School has served the community for over 130 years and many of our children have parents and grandparents who attended our old schools.
We are very proud of our modern, well-equipped building, which opened in 2005. Each classroom has its own entrance and cloakroom and we have a purpose built Foundation Stage Unit with excellent outdoor play provision. Our extensive school grounds include a sensory garden, a trim trail, a large school field and a multi-use games area.
Good relationships permeate our school ethos and we believe that teaching children the skills of self-discipline, co-operation, care, respect and tolerance is an important part of the curriculum. We adopt a positive approach to behaviour management and expect high standards of behaviour in our school.
Our parents are very supportive and our PTA works hard to organise fund raising events for the school community. We have a very effective Governing Body which is actively involved with school life.
Our latest Ofsted was in May 2013 when we were graded good with outstanding features. Ofsted judged that ‘...pupils make good progress as they move through school…',they have ’...exemplary attitudes to learning...’ and ‘...behave outstandingly well’. As part of their key findings they reported that, ‘The quality of teaching is always good and sometimes outstanding...’ and that school leaders and governors ‘...have clear vision for improvement, shared by all staff.’
