Had a trip over to Rose n Bowl for a Sunday Carvery. Choose this place after great reviews online. We were not disappointed. Best roast beef and Turkey we have ever had, very impressed. Ham joint was also excellent. Warm welcome from the team and great service from the Master Carver serving up the meat. Not too busy at 2pm Sunday, but young waiting on staff could have followed up for more drinks, deserts etc as we had to ask each time. Overall great food and worth a visit if your looking for an unlimited Carvery. Parking: Large free carpark directly opposite.
Years since I was last here for their famous carvery. Was in the area on a Saturday afternoon so brother suggested a visit. Loads of free parking just over the road with some of the widest disabled bays I have ever seen. Menus on tables and a blackboard with a lot of specials on it. Carvery is not available during the day apart from Sunday I think but we already knew that. My brother got drinks from the bar. Pint of San Miguel and a lime and soda. Got change from a fiver so great value there. He ordered the fish and chips and I went for the Cumberland Sausage. You go up to a counter to order and pay there. Food took a while to arrive which suggests everything was being cooked fresh. When it was served portions were big and the food was piping hot. The sausages were huge, really tasty and very filling. Neither of us finished our plates. We were stuffed. So the food was great. Tasty, big portions and relatively inexpensive. Less than £25 for the lot. The only downside to me was the noise. Music was playing and I found it loud. Also a lot of dads in with their sons. Several looked like they had been playing for local school teams so this added to the noise and I found it hard to relax. But then it was a Saturday afternoon and you're unlikely to get this if you go to dine during the week. So don't let this put you off. I must be getting more grumpy as I get older. Overall I would recommend. If you want good, inexpensive, freshly cooked grub it's worth a visit. I would go back if in the area but not on a Saturday afternoon.
The best Sunday lunch around, carvery is plentiful and you can sit in either the restaurant book well in advance, or the bar and lounge area, equally as comfortable. Drinks prices are very good and the atmosphere is great. Our children love eating here. The regular menu is also great, plenty of choice and some good vegetarian choices. Parking: Right opposite the restaurant.
Great Sunday lunch here today! Lovely food and great service. It was 30 degrees today - so very very hot but the staff did an amazing job ! We were very impressed and will definitely be back again. Many thanks for a lovely day
Had a fabulous carvery. Well cooked meats which were not dry like some places and fresh vegetables. Very satisfied. Has a local friendly vibe Oh the puds are decent too.
The best carvery you will ever have, if you leave hungry it's your own fault! Bar meals are also excellent. Staff are friendly welcoming and helpful lucky to call the Rose and Bowl our local. Vegetarian options: Do good selection of vegetarian meals too.
Food was amazing carvery service great was easy to get attention when needed. Atmosphere was a nice family friendly pub, we went on a Sunday after the lunchtime rush, 2pm plenty of space, but started to get busy again when we left and no wonder best cooked meat I've ever had! Best to bookFood: 5/5
Food - Worst meal I’ve had in ages! Staff great but bar snacks/food not at all good. My steak like shoe leather! Decor - It’s like a worker man’s club from the 80s! In need of a revamp! What a shame for a place that used to be good. Won’t be going back.
Great food, generous portions and friendly staff. Very good value for money. Had christmas lunch today there, 5 course menu, really good. Game soup is to die for.
Excellent food, nice surroundings if a little dated, could do with some modernising, well worth a visit, oh and the world gravy wrestling championships held here annually . Parking: Right opposite a free car park, and free on street parking too.
