It's an ok older ground, decent away end with it's own food & drink but and it does take cards. Good atmosphere & you can park in streets around but you need to go a bit further out nearer kick off. A few pillars obstruct views and cannot hear tannoy in away end. A proper football ground
Really enjoyed my visit with my 11 year old daughter, good old local football grounds, obviously needs a lot of updating but it's all part of the charm and history
The stewards are perfect and attentive to away fans. The food was dreadful however, the burger was absolutely grim with an overpriced tag on it - not to mention the £2 water.nnAnnoyingly, they also do not sell any sort of beverages? what’s the point.
What can I say about Roots Hall. It’s home to Southend United, who have struggled over the last few years, due to an owner who didn’t care about football.nMy son and I started attending games only this season, and I’ve found the staff / stewards to be really helpful and the fans to be welcoming and friendly.nNow the club has been sold, we are looking to buy season tickets.nThe football being played is also extremely good for the league. So if you want an entertaining afternoon/evening for a great price, it’s worth a visit.
Classic old fashioned lower league stadium. The facilities are rustic, the technology non existent, the ticketing a disaster.,..nnBut the club has great fans, noisy, dedicated, resilient and funny. The fans are much much better than the owner deserves and they do the club and the players proud.nnIf you want to experience non league football at its best head to roots hall. It's worth it.
