Absolutely stunning old school ground. I went at 31st of December, right after the game day and met some workers around. Everyone were so friendly. City and club seemed to be what you looking for when you really wants to touch real English roots. I wish you all the best, and hopefully you will go back to your old good days!
Im a season ticket holder here always great, friendly atmosphere great view from seats. However food is very hit and miss its either lovley food or not so good.nToliets need a lot of work doing and would be better if card payment was accepted for matchday programe .nAll in all a lovley family friendly staduim.
Roots Hall is a true gem for football fans, offering an intimate and electric atmosphere that larger stadiums can't replicate. The passionate Southend United supporters create an unmatched energy, making every matchday special. Its compact design ensures that every seat feels close to the action, enhancing the overall experience. The facilities are top-notch, with modern amenities that provide comfort without losing the stadium’s classic charm. Whether you're a local or a visitor, Roots Hall delivers an unforgettable experience that truly deserves a 5-star rating.
So I was down in Essex To watch my Beloved Oldham Athletic away at Southend United at Roots Hall, I have always wanted to visit Roots Hall as it looks like a proper old throw back stadium .nnSo I made the 4 and a Half hour journey down to Southend United from my home in Manchester, I arrived and found a free parking spot a stones throw from the away End.nnI decided to have a look in the club shop and then I had a nosey around the stadium and then I saw the players entrance and there was no one there so I walked in and then I walked straight through and I was in the dug out and on the pitch.nnI then headed back and decided to head into the First team changing room and had a nosey before a Southend United player came in.nnThe stadium was a proper old Skool stadium, Pitch was well looked after I then headed to the Railway pub for a pint as The Pub at the stadium and the blue boar are all home fans only so I walked a few minutes to the railway pub.nnI then headed back to Roots hall for the Match, Absolutely fantastic atmosphere, Fair play to the Southend United fans they sang their hearts out from the 1st minute to well after I had left the stadium.nnSouthend United beat us 1-nil, Loved the stadium and nice to see a fanbase as big as ours if not bigger.nn5 5 5 5 5nnI post alot of reviews on Google everything from being local to home in Manchester to on my travels watching the mighty Oldham Athletic to pubs, Restaurants to me and my Wife on our travels.nnWe always give an honest opinion and feedback on everything from service to eat to drink to value for money to cleanliness etc and we have reviewed everything from barbers to Beauty treatments to pubs, restaurants, Football stadiums, Taxis, Hotels, Beaches, Flights, Beaches, beach clubs, Stores, shops, supermarkets etc.nnWe have nearly 32,000,000+ on Google alone and love reviewing places giving an honest opinion and feedback on everything that we see and do.
I recently attended the Southend United home fixture against Altrincham FC!nnHaving lived in Southend and surrounding areas for the last 18 years I try to get along to games perhaps once or twice per season. This fixture didn't disappoint, especially with a 2-1 WIN!!!nnThe ground is in need of some serious investment!! This has been offered and withdrawn for many years, which is a real shame as the departure to another site is extremely unlikely, therefore I would hope for the sake of the club that investment is coming. The stands, bars and access would all seriously benefit from some upgrades, in the hope this may inspire/support the club onto greater achievements!nnThat said, the atmosphere was fabulous and it was great to sit in a new part of the ground that I have never previously used!nn #shrimpers #seasideers
