Libraries can be amazing places and a hub for the community. However Romford library falls well short of this and offers a poor place to go and read, study and learn. First off there is no public toilets and one has to leave the complex and walk about 10 minutes to find them. This is no good if you are studying for exams or want to do some hard core research. Now if you have an illness or weak bladder you are in a bit of trouble. Then there are the opening times, a very poor show for those that work and need to do a bit of study in the evening away from the busy home. Then there is the use of the plug sockets and WiFi, what a swizz. You want people to pay to use the plug sockets and have to belong to the PUBLIC library in order to use the internet. Damn talk about Victorian. Barking library has late openings Mon to Thurs til 9:30 Pm, has toilets, you can use the plug sockets and free wi-fi for all. Romford you need to up the game if you want people to learn, read and study.

Annoying there is no toilet as I have to plan my visits around that. There should also be a silent room for study as it would be helpful due to myself currently writing my dissertation for university.

First Central library I've ever been in that I had to pay £1.00 to charge my phone or connect my laptop (and I've been to many) after all that council tax and PAYE tax, not even a toilet in a public library. The Councillors of Havering council and the head of the library should be dismissed for not performing their duties to the public who voted them in and pays them to provide a public service. If this council can't afford a public library then close it. Don't deceive us that you are providing a public service - a Central library for that matter - for our taxes.

This was my second home when I was a teenager in the 1980's. Happy memories.
