We had an absolutely fantastic afternoon at this beautiful country park walking along the river. The café was lovely with lots of tasty things for lunch and a brilliant atmosphere. The walk was absolutely stunning with lots to see, lots of dogs running around enjoying their day. The perfect place for families and couples. I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Perfect place for a hike around 3 miles over flat ground, which was much needed after a few more ambitious climbs. Serene, family friendly, welcoming. Wonderful place. Restrooms: Not fancy, but a welcome sight when you need it. Dog-friendliness: Sweet good doggos free to roam. Picnic area: Several picnic areas to take advantage of
Walking can help improve your mood! - This is because of the positive impact it has on cerebral circulation. ‘Roe Valley Country Park’ is the spot to go when the weather is good…. The RVCP trail is around three miles in distance, and it runs along the banks of the ‘River Roe’. It offers up some beautiful scenery and some really idyllic views. There are a variety of woodland walks to entice your feet - where in which the terrain, for the most part, is suitable for all physical capabilities, with benches and bins provided throughout - and you will find ‘Al’s Coffee at Roe Valley Country Park’ along with toilets - and a few other facilities - within the visitors centre. You might run into a fisherman, or two, as you go - the area is well known for its association with Atlantic Salmon. With the car park beside the visitors centre, and ‘O’Cahan’s Rock Car Park’ there is ample opportunity for parking. The area is family friendly and dog friendly. One of the trails leads you to the ‘Roe Park Resort’ - from golfing and dining to exploring the beauty of Roe Valley. It’s a perfect location for a family day out, and there’s definitely something for everyone.
Love this place, great for all ages and abilities. Fantastic coffee shop, a little pricey but superb quality food every time... Big selection of sweet and savoury options. Restrooms: Very clean
Absolutely loved it. A really peaceful walk in the countryside next to a meandering stream. The locals are so friendly! Cows and sheep will stop for a chat as well as people. And finish up at Al's for a cuppa...
Beautiful forest walk/hike. Moderate effort required in places but the pay off is worth it. Great place to get lost in for a couple of hours to earn the nice coffee and treat at the coffee house nearby.
Love going here. Its always filled with pleasant people, some with dogs and some of those dogs are off the lead so if this is an issue please use caution. It has the most amazingly funny goats there who sometimes show off their skills on their trampoline. There are cows there and the last couple of times there, there were horses and donkeys there too but they're not always there. There are walks down close to the river but these are not proper paths and are full of tree routes so again, please use caution. The parking is good although on really good days you may have to park outside the entrance as everyone seems to have the same idea and all attend there. There is fishing available there ran by the roe angling club I believe its called. There is a place to get food there too which is very good or there are limited seats to bring your own and have a picnic. It's an area steeped in history and some of the signs are very informative. Well worth a trip, even on a bad day to brighten you up. There isn't a person who passes you who doesn't say hello.
Beautiful Country Park. Circular walk around a stream takes about an hour to complete.. Several picnic tables available also has a designated disabled picnic table. Part of the park suitable for wheelchairs. Electric charging facility near the car park. Rest rooms available. Dogs allowed on lead. Restrooms: Well maintained
Absolutely beautiful! The walk way is really well laid out and plenty of areas for kids to explore on way round. Only weird thing is having to walk on the main road to complete the circuit and arrive back at the visitor centre, so need to be very careful of traffic at that point.
