Spur of moment decision to eat out after a late meeting - thought we would try Jamie's, but spotted little Italian whilst looking for parking spot. Looked at Jamie's menu but not inspired by food or price.....so took ourselves to Rococo. It was 9.45 and the restaurant was empty, but we were welcomed in and given great service attentive but not intrusive - it could have felt awkward as the only customers but was the opposite. The food was fantastic - we both had specials: rabbit Italian style and belly of pork: crackling like I have never had before! Lovely fresh veg on the side. Shared a pud as both full - really delicious meal, so glad we didn't go across the road. It was late but we were never given the feeling that they wanted to close, as so often happens in the chains like Prezzo & Pizza Express. Planning to return tonight for pre theatre pasta!
We found this little Restaurant via the Internet, We've lived in Kingston Upon Thames for a while now and never even knew it was there. Me and my Wife had a lovely meal here on our anniversary. The food is excellent using fine ingredients and is very tasty, clean plates all round. Staff are very helpful/friendly and the whole experience of a friendly local Italian Restaurant is captured here superbly. There is a small open aired terrace with tables at the rear so you can eat ovelooking the River Thames if you wish. Recomended by us 100% we will be returning to try out the rest of the menu. Thank You
4 of us went there last July. We had called in advance to book a table on the terrace. When we arrived, the terrace was full and it took them a good 10 minutes to get a few people to move inside. The weather was very nice and the terrace is small so we understood that it can't be easy to stop people with no reservation sitting there. We then waited 30 mins for anyone to come to our table and take our order. The lady the owner was nice and chatty but started by saying that they were very busy and that they don't do fast food, that they wait until they get the orders to start cooking the dishes because that's how good food is prepared etc., yet wasn't apologetic about the wait. We felt this was not a very good sign for what was coming...and indeed,1 hour later we were still waiting for our food so decided to leave Another table was clearly complaining about the wait too, another complaining about ordering before someone else yet being served much later.... She did not even protest or anything, we paid for the wine, which was the only thing we got served in the 1.5h there. Frankly, I felt she should not have charged for the wine at all, but she didn't offer even a small discount, no offer to come back on another day at a discount, nothing. So, sadly, I can't tell you if the food is any good there...I don't intend to ever find out either. The restaurant is quite small, so even when full it's not like they are preparing hundreds of meals at the same time...
Horrible from start to finish. The servcie was terrible, the food disgusting, and the worst thing was the owner. This tremendously horrible petite Maltese lady treated us like garbage, ignoring us and scoffing at us when we 'dared' complain. Worst of all she did not even offer us any discount whatsoever, complaining loudly about us in front of the waitress. Shame on you, no wonder you're closed now.
Terrible experience....Me and my Italian partner have been to a lot of bad Italian restaurants in London but this was the worst. Walked out without eating the plate of big fatty sausages and huge pieces of broccoli swimming in watery sausage fat. It was supposed to be penne al cinghiale. No sugo no cinghiale.
Kingston has tons of Italian restaurants. This is the one to choose for food! Personal favourites incled Coze alla Napoletana mussles in wine garlic and sauceand farfalle con pollo pasta with chicken strips, freshh peppers and garlic in a lovely creamy sauce. A family restaurant with a real family feel and the whole experience is like a big Italian hug.
It was shockingly bad.how could you mess up chicken and rice!!!!
