This was a great wee find for my family and I on a recent trip to Derry. There is no admission fee and the aquariums contain fish commonly found in rivers and streams locally. My children really enjoyed our trip and although the aquariums are all in quite a small room, it is full of information about the fish within each aquarium and also includes a video pod where you can learn more about native species of fish. There is a corner for small children to sit and colour in a variety of printouts of fish and a box of shells for them to look at and play with. We spent roughly half an hour in the main aquarium area before leaving to go to the outside river walk. There is a bird hide, insect hotel and a lovely but short walk along the river offering lovely views of the city. All in all it is definitely worth a visit and helps children appreciate their own local habitat more.
Well worth a stop. Very informative and lovely staff
Friendly helpful staff. Really interesting about all the different fish that are local to the area. Very good for children as my son was very interested to see all the different tanks and read all the boards. May be small and be forgotten but it's a great way to break up a journey and for something different
Very small - so do not expect to see a large site, but the staff at reception are friendly and the kids are entertained for a few mins. Its free in and a little bit of a walk outside - if the weather is good. I can see schools and classes coming up and visiting to see a little about fish. For young kids & school visits more than anything.
This is a fantastic little exhibition for all the family! It's free as well. Gives the visitor a really good insight into what's in the water in terms of wildlife, fauna and flora. The aquariums are great and provide a close-up view of many fresh and sea water species. It's a little way out of the city centre but if you feel you can walk, it's worth it as there is a river walk you can take for part of the way. From the Peace Bridge to the Riverwatch visitor centre, it's just under 2-miles
Kids loved it found interesting me self a lot to see and we'll laid out not an in and out job. Also breakfast soda come on and good fast food for the wee ones I will be back. Ps get the ferry even if it's out of your way kids loved it too adventure they said .
I love this place, very beneficial in terms of education. I have taken my grandchildren to it. I hope some day they take theirs too. At no cost this is a must for people who want to know what lives in our rivers.
It's ok. There's not really much to see, but worth 15min of your time if passing by. More disappointed by the fact that the tanks were not labelled and there was little in the way of staff interaction. Just a little work would make it much, much better - but hey, it's free!
Fairly limited number of fish but has a beautiful walk trail next to the water. Good for 30 mins or so and it is free so good for the family. Walk trail is amazing and good views over lough foyle
Kids loved it ages 3 and 6. There is enough to keep them interested and excited. Lovely wee walk round the back too.
