First time trying since new owners and I was not disappointed. Fish was amazingly fresh and tasty and chips were also great. Good prices...only downside is no option to pay with card in shop but can order online and pay with card.Food: 5/5
Not just another chippy! We recently discovered this fish and chip shop, and we are so glad we did. I wouldn't say we are chip connoisseurs, but we know what we like, and we really like these chips!! Try them. I think you will too.Food: 5/5
I used to go to this place when it was Ringmer chippy. I raved about this place to family and friends. Went there tonight for the first time in a long while, to notice it was no longer Ringmer chippy. Just very disappointed, the food was absolutely disgusting. I had cod and chips, the batter was soggy and the fish was not fresh. The chips were seriously over salted and not cooked properly. The box it came in was absolutely dripping with oil. Other half had 1/4 pounder and chips. The chips were all congealed together, and his words about the burger was macdonalds is better!! The chef was obnoxious, wouldn't mind if he could actually cook. The pricing is very expensive for the extremely bad food, Will never go back here again.
Heard it had new owners, so tried it today, have to say it was the best fish and chips I've had in a long time! Very nice owners. Welcome to Ringmer!
Really disappointed as first time I used . Ordered by phone but still waited 10 mins then got home and the £3.70 chicken burger was literally just a bit of chicken in a bun no sauce or salad as advertised . When I called to complain he said you have to ask for salad !! Really who ordered a burger and asks for salad when advertised with salad !! Found the man very rude on the phone . I spent nearly £40 and won’t go again

Ordered online. Was informed would take 15-20 minutes. Arrived 25 minutes since placing order to be told would be an additional 5 minutes. Ended up being 45 minutes in total. This is considerable large wait time as was only customer and was only and order for 2. I was confused as only customer in there. But they may have been busy before? However both members of staff where asking each other if they had cooked certain items on the order. Each replying no. Cooked half the order whilst waiting. Whilst I could see half of the order sat under the heating area. Seemed as if they were just waiting for chips. Which to test if they were ready ate one. Wasn’t aware of her washing her hands after this so handled my food soon after. Food was dry and undercooked with lack of salt and vinegar. As well very tight on Mayo! Gone down hill dramatically since change of ownership.
Under new management. Fish poorly battered, oily and bland. Chips oily and bland. Curry sauce bland. Preferred the old owner’s frying, of fish and chips at least. They no longer have online ordering so there’s no possibility of paying by card either - cash only. In post-pandemic nearly 2023? Get with the times.
Possibly one of the worst fish and chip joints I have ever encountered. Now I’ve recovered from the horrific levels of oil sitting in the chips and the bottom of the box, I would like to give my experience. The fact it was open on a MONDAY should’ve rung all the alarm bells! Where do they get their supposed fresh fish from?! The chips are WHITE that they’re so far from cooked. I had a pool of shiny oil in the bottom of the box, with all the smaller “could’ve been crispy if they were cooked” crispy bits. Seems they’ve just been warmed under the heat lamp and sold more or less raw. Now I did also buy a saveloy….YES I KNOW they are awful and grim, however it’s a guilty pleasure of mine from the 90s. Garlicky, processed non-meat can actually be pretty tasty but this was entirely INEDIBLE. One bite made me gag - it was so SO dry for something that was sitting in water. The flavour was rancid, genuinely, making me question for how many days it had been sat there. I do wonder if the owner of the business has ever tried any of the products they are cooking? I would imagine not; there is no care to the client in the quality of what they are selling which for how low grade it is is extortionately priced Awful awful awful please avoid. And WHO in 2022 is still only taking cash?!
Quite simply the best fish and chips i have had for many years. Just need to accept card payments now to be complete !!
