Very informative as the mark of Waterford for the past 1000 years. Nice to explore ancient ruins alongside it's artifacts inside and outside. Unfortunately most of the artifacts were moved to Dublin so it was very empty. Careful of your head when going down the stairs.
Fun place!! For some reason, the entry was free! The staff were great fun! I think I was being the goofy American and they laughed. Loved going up the winding stone staircase! I loved the Lego models in the walls!
A very interesting visit. An impressive and tidy place. There is an interesting video tutorial. Very interesting history. ThanksVisited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Such a great historical site on our stop in Waterford! The curators were very knowledgeable and friendly and did not seem to tire of our “21” questions about all things Waterford Viking history. She even gave us insight into what is next for the discovery of Viking artifacts. 2/7 of our party opted not to take the stairs because they are irregular and plentiful which we were informed was part of the strategy!. My 4 year old was able to get to the top with a little assistance and the infant that was strapped to be had a lovely adventure up and down. I would say this is definitely a must experience while in Waterford!
I love history and this tower and surrounding area really has so much that it would take at least 3 days to see it all. The tower is a bit tough to walk through if your not very mobile. Wheel chairs would not go beyond the first floor.
Fine tower with medieval history of waterford.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Very nice lady at the front desk who gave us good advise on parking and the history of the place We got in free because of Winter Christmas Festival It is a great place to visit although the place was too small and you may hit your head climbing up. You also need some physical exertion to climb the place although it was not that hard to do so.
We just so happen to visit during the Christmas festival events and entrance was free. Normally I believe the entrance is 5 euros. The tower was the last Viking stronghold in Waterford. It was very interesting to view all the history and read the facts. A great place to visit for history buffs or Viking lovers.
Currently free to go in, the tower gave a nice overview of the history of the town. Start at the top for the audio visual summary of its history and then work your way through the rooms. The artifacts aren't here at the moment but it's still worth a visit.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Was closed for renovations but, the outside was cool looking and they had a plague with the history of the tower as well as a model Longship and Viking Triangle 3d miniature.
