The lady writing about Redruth Town Council Lucy does not understand that setting of business rate and council tax policy is undertaken by central government who allow Cornwall Council to collect and use the money. Redruth Town Council - in line with other town and parish councils - will only have a limited amount of the Council Tax share that they can set. Their support and involvement in the high street has seen improvements in recent years against a backdrop of decades of complex national issues that have impacted on it. Redruth Town Council should be praised, not criticised.
How can a council like this allow pool market to go down hill so bad as it is now. I live St.Austell but visited Pool market for the first time yesterday for a few years due to the pandemic, but was shocked to see how it is now. Hardly any car park spaces which to me signals how they have abandoned any hope or love for the market. And as you enter the road to the market there is what looks like a fly tipping ground. Surely this will encourage rat's. This council needs sacking.
A sound indication of a progressive and awake council is a thriving high street. Why are shop fronts sitting empty for YEARS? Why are these people still employed as councillors? Shocking.
