I was there to look at the newly exposed fossil forest (it's not really fossilised it's just ancient) however this is the nearest icon on Google maps. The recent very heavy weather has washed away a load of sand & exposed much more of Redcar beach than has previously been seen.

Great views but sadly cafe has closed and not much else going for it unless you have the urge for your wedding ceremony with a view of the North Sea drone a few floors up

It's rather disappointing, although the view from the top is okay, the actual building is ugly, and did indeed come 6th in the 'carbuncle cup' competition some years ago. The lights at night are no longer fully working, and the outside is dirty. There have been 2 cafe's, but both have closed. Zetland radio operates from the beacon though, which serves the community very well.

Great views. Worth a look just for the view. Stairs or a lift make it accessible for all.
