Great weekend spent at the Red Lion. We stayed in the family room, which is a great size. The room came with tea and coffee facilities and had all little toiletries needed for a perfect stay. We had a delicious breakfast and Sunday lunch too. All staff were very attentive and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for a great stay - we'll be back soon!
Three of us went out for a meal , for the first time . We thought it was quite large and spacious, very nice and relaxing . It was nice to see the old implements from kitchens of time gone by. The food was very nice and there was a good selection on the menu.. We will certainly be going back Parking: There was plenty of parking spaces
Had dinner there yesterday with family and friends. Great service, lovely atmosphere. Food amazing, I had the catch of the day, smoked cod, king prawns, mussels in a creamy sauce with small pieces of potato, peas and corn served with lovely ciabatta and butter, it was amazing!Service: 5/5
Went for a works Xmas dinner, which we had pre booked and pre-ordered. One of our team didn't get their starter until we'd asked for it several times. I had the festive burger which unfortunately was absolutely cremated and tasted like charcoal. The cheesecake was gritty and tasted like raw cocoa powder. Most of the team who had sticky toffee pudding sent it back as it was crispy and burned. I asked at the till to take off the cheesecake as I didn't eat it and only after checking my bank did I realise they'd still charged me full price! I understand that having large groups in is difficult in terms of serving everyone at the same time and having so much to cook at once etc but we'd had this booked for weeks including our order, I feel like that was ample time to prepare! Very disappointed, I won't be visiting again that's for sure.
Food was delicious, but service was very slow. We waited an hour before we got food, but orders had been mixed up so one of our party didn't get theirs. We overheard another 2 times staff talking about other mixed up orders. A shame, as the food was very good, service, not so much.Food: 5/5
Visited for lunch today after recommending it to my two friends. We were sat and the waitress was lovely and ordered our drinks. Another waitress took our food order who was also lovely She came back a short while later with our food and asked if we would like any sauces - we asked for some garlic sauce. We waited patiently for the sauce which we were told was being made by the chef, we felt like we were being an inconvenience to this certain waitress who didn’t have the right manner at all so we decided to ask another waitress. The rude waitress over heard and said “it’s coming, the chef is making it” we had been waiting nearly 20 minutes explained our meals were nearly finished and still didn’t have our condiments. The place felt uncomfortable with staff feeling the pressure and taking it out on the customers! Live local and it’s totally put me off from returning. Had to ask for more drinks, wasn’t asked if everything was ok with meal etc. Service not good at all. It’s a shame as food is nice but the attitude from certain members of staff who obviously don’t like to be asked things that’s in their job description really puts me off from returning!
This used to be a very nice place for food and service but now on 3 separate occasions there has been a disaster with food... 1 time round i took my father in law and all the orders were mixed up.. food was sent back bcoz it was stone cold... 2nd time round I went with my wife and she ordered muscles that comes out in a scalding pot, to which the staff tripped spilt it all over me and scalded my hand and arm.. my food came out and was again stone cold.. 3rd time round was mothers day just gone, and again all the food orders were mixed up me and my father ordered mince and dumplings with homemade chips, we got mashed potato, mine was also again stone cold.. my mother ordered scampi chips and mushy peas hers came out with no peas, we told them and by the time they came out she'd nearly eaten her meal... she orederd a latte and got a coffee.... I don't know what's going on but there is just no communication between any of the staff when ordering food and drinks
Left nearly all the Sunday lunch the meat was awful and veg utter rubbish. Took ages to clear our nearly full plates away and eventually she asked was everything ok we said no we didn't enjoy it and instead of apologising or asking if we wanted anything else she rather rudely said no one else had complained and brought the bill! What kind of response is that? It's a shame because it was only my second visit, the other time it was a lovely mid week burger and chips but Sunday dinner a total letdown.
Popped in for a beef stottie. Lovely. Took the dog along too. They're always welcome. Get lots of strokes and treats.Food: 5/5
We first has Sunday lunch as a group of 15 in September then came back today as a group of 6. First class lunch. The beef is unreal. I love this pub is so quirky and the staff are so friendly. We love loads of vegetables and it was no problem when we ask for more. The vegetables were different on both occasions. My daughters a vegetarian and she wasn't keen on the veg choice so just had the dinner without meat and she loved it too. We rarely go out for Sunday lunch as I make a really good one but now our children are at University we will go more often
