Great atmosphere, delicious food, value for money and excellent service. Love coming here.
Fabulous Saturday lunch family get together in this lovely old restaurant. Well worth the hour & 1/4 journey to get here. Every member of the family were extremely happy with the food, so a real triumph. Great menu that suited all our quirky tastes. The chocolate fondant was perfection. Service friendly. What not to like? The town has a village feel. Also very friendly with some lovely independent shops and a rotating charity shop. My mum liked it so much she wants to live here.
Lovely food and dining experience. A group of friends got together to celebrate a birthday at the Red House last night. I had a good sized ribeye steak and the others had fish dishes which were delicious. We were served by a delightful new waitress who was very professional and attentive. Overall it was a great experience.
Excellent food and great service. Really friendly staff who were friendly and welcoming to our party. Good play area outside for the kids to run around in. I had one of the best steak meals I have had in a long time! Would definetly recommend this pub.
Absolutely outstanding food, my partner had the pork roast and I had the pan fried goose. Both were sublime and very filling, didn't have a chance to try deserts or starters as we were on our way to the Bombay Sapphire Distillery. Very friendly staff and lovely atmosphere
Stopped here for light lunch after walking the mill trail on a cold muddy Sunday. We were VERY lucky to get a table for 2 in the bar. The carpeted restaurant was full and several groups after us were told nicely that bookings for Sunday lunch are safest way to get in. The meals looked great. Our cheesy chilli nachos were not at all what you might imagine.... a large bowl of home made chilli surrounded by a crown of light, tasty, crisp home made tortilla chips. Tasted even better than it looked. Staff clearly didn't expect to be quite so busy ... they did an excellent job. Handled very well a situation where one tables order hadn't arrived after too long human error.
We came here yesterday afternoon Sunday 1 Sept as a large group, hungover and in need of food. We sat in the lovely garden terrace and got served up some great roast dinners with all the trimmings, quickly and very efficiently by the friendly staff. We were made to feel very at home and this place was a bit of a life-saver! Good drinks selection too. We nearly sat in a grim pub car park at the White Hart so thank god they weren't doing food, this pub is the perfect place for a lazy Sunday afternoon and good for kids too with the adventure playground. Did I mention the friendly, cheerful staff? Only regret is we didn't leave a tip, sorry we were too hungover to remember...
Lovely terrace and garden, fantastic food and big portions - we had tasty burgers gerkins mixed into the meat and Lamb roast was also delicious. Gary the manager and Ellie who served us were very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend The Red House.
Nice atmosphere and friendly staff, but I was amazed at the poor quality of the food considering the positive reviews here. The pasta was really unpleasant and although the staff were friendly, they did nothing about the fact that I ate about 4 bits and it bore no relation to the menu description. It is going under refurbishment and staff told me that they were using up what they had in the kitchen - maybe this was the problem... someone else was complaining about the food as I left.
Extremely welcoming & cheerful owner made for a great pub lunch. Portions were more than plenty & the pub had an old rustic village feel to it. Great after a gin @ Bombay.
