Story

Rattle And Drum Ltd is a musical instrument retailer based in Derby, UK. A drum and percussion specialist for 10 years, in 2008 we expanded to become Derby’s number one “rock” instrument retailer by acquiring the location that has been the city’s biggest and best music shop for over 30 years.

In store we have a large and varied selection of acoustic, bass and electric guitars, a vast range of amps, pedals and accessories, one of the best drum and percussion showrooms in the country and a dedicated PA department.

We want our shop to be accessible and welcoming to all. Some music stores can be intimidating – we want to change that. Whether you are taking your first musical steps or looking for your custom-built dream instrument, all of our customers are equally important to us. We have a friendly team here with many year’s experience in the music industry. Whatever question you have, we have someone who will know the answer!

Being a part of the local music scene is also very important to us. We work with a number of schools and venues, and have our own rock school providing lessons to students of all ages! We stock hand-built boutique instruments from local craftsmen, and we have a service department that can meet any of our customer’s needs from basic setups to full rebuilds!

We believe that the best way to buy a musical instrument is in person. There is no substitute for visiting our shop where you can demo the actual instrument you are thinking of buying, try alternatives and get friendly impartial advice. However, we understand that it is not always possible to do this and we therefore provide a full online shopping experience.
