This NHS neurorehab unit and all the staff are absolutely amazing and deserve a medal for what they do for their patients.nnThe above is based on my experience of having a family member spending a considerable amount of time in the unit late 2023 till the middle of May 2024.
The staff at Rakeshaed are fantastic loving and caring. Our son had been here coming up 7 months now and the leavel of care is outstanding. The O.T team are brilliant at what they do thanks to them our son is moving more and doing another more the physiotherapy are great at what they doand have worked wonders with our son we can never to begin to thank them enough for the way they are and have been with Corey Balderstone God bless this place and everyone who works their
I visited my brother for the first time here what a horrible place to be left in. He was naked from the waist down they just said he kept pulling his nappy off. I asked if they had any of the plain pads that could be kept in place with a pair of close fitting hospital knickers for men. They promptly produced one so why wasn't he in that instead of being left undignified for all the world to see. It was almost as if was amusing to them. He had not been washed or shaved his mouth was disgustingly dirty and teeth obviously not been cleaned for a long time. He's in there because he can't do things for himself yet so why are they expecting him to. His skin was dry and flaky so he wasn't hydrated either and as he is nil by mouth they should be putting fluids in him not just the feed bag which I realise is liquid form but it is not hydrating water. I do not recommend this place it's the first time I've been and I certainly hope the last.
Don't deserve the one star but couldn't leave minus star,anyone thinking of putting a family member in this place don't do it !!!!!!?!nWalked in to find our family member laying flat on the bed wriggling around genitals on display to everyone,I carer sat down 1stood up chatting away no attemp to cover the patients dignity just told they won't keep there nappy on ,mortified at this we took over as soon as we placed the pad under them they had a wee for which they were bursting ,they were unwashed no personal hygiene done at all, dried cracked lips,mouth so dry ,toothbrush was so far at the bottom of the drawer it hadn't been used for days ,relatives have mentioned about the lack of care previously but nothing changed,too many things to list here,no rehab done here if you cannot help yourself they are left to rot in bed it's easier for them, unbelievable uncaring place ,qcc need to do a suprise visit to this hell hole
I was here for 5 months after being told I would never walk again.nThe nursing staff,physios, o/t and all other staff, are all amazing and dedicated. I was looked after and treated with respect from day one.nAt the end of 5 months I walked out of Rakehead, this wouldn't have been possible without all their hard work and effort. Thank-you all xx
