The gym itself is spacious, with different areas for different activities. The equipment in the gym is fine, some of it could do with upgrading and there always seems to be a machine that is out of order. The changing rooms could do with a deep clean too. Avoid it between 4pm and 5pm when it fills with loads of school kids who don't seem to use the machines for working out, but more for hanging around in groups chatting and sitting on the machines on their phones.
I regularly play badminton there. They recently put nice lights. There are total 4 courts. Swimming pool and other activities are good too. Parking is sometimes challenging, which cost you 40p/2hrs.
Badminton courts are reasonable even if the nets are in disrepair, pools are adequate, soft play area is a lot of fun with a great layout ... but unable to check in digitally for the sports hall is annoying as there's often a queue due to low staff numbers. Unable to book badminton on certain days without any explanation why on the app or website, so unsure if there's a long term block booking or others are faster to book up the slots.
Pros: gym is spacious and decent equipment. Cons: front of house staff attitude needs improving. 99% rude / disinterested. Health suite has reduced opening hours to save them money but membership fees still the same. Changing rooms need to be cleaned more regularly.
Attended the Rainbow Soft play for the first time. My wife booked for my 3 year old and 5 year old. They charge £8 per child. My wife injured her foot the day before so couldn't properly supervise the little ones. I therefore attended to assist her. I had to pay £7.50 as an additional adult just to supervise the child. Absolute disgrace!! It was only after that I found out that since we paid for two children, I should have never been charged as an additional adult. Also, when we initially got there, there was no table free for another 20 minutes. This was because others attending were overstaying and no one was monitoring the wrist bands. When we finally got a table, the floor was full of food. Again, no one cleaning up. The place was filthy. On the whole, not happy about the lack of supervision, lack of cleanliness and effectively getting ripped off with the pricing £7.50 to watch my own kids play. Also had to pay for parking in a nearby car park because this car park was full.
Did not have a good swim today. I usually swim in medium line as I am fast for slow and slow for fast line. I wish lifeguards would police lines better. Medium lane was full of people doing breaststroke at a leisurely pace. So frustrating as slow lane only had three swimmers. I am assuming their egos can't accept slow lane swimming.
Nice softplay, and bar. Friendly staff Beware of the parking. Some customers paying by Ringo got tickets as the parking guards system wasn't communicating with Ringo.
Relatively well-run facility, but please beware of the misleading membership packages. Mine included "All facilities in Centre" and yet, when it came to booking a 40 minute badminton session, I had to pay. I called up and was told that it was not included, the justification being that there is no mention of free racquets in the membership. And I did not even need the racquets. With all the benefit of the doubt, this is bordering on fraudulent. I know times are tough, but it should not be a reason to treat your members in this way. Please realise that centre membership does not mean much more that you need to pay a monthly fee on top of what you pay for activities. Really sorry to see Better centres around and not just this one go down the drain in every way. To wrap up, my membership is cancelled now and I will move to a private facility, and will not be too unhappy when this one closes in future.
No idea why it has low rating, the only problem are the teens trying to lift weights and literally risking their life. Very good gym.
One or two of the male staff could improve their attitudes....one had heard I was still in the shower just prior to closing time, didn't bother to warn me about closing up and suddenly turned the lights off completely while I was still in the shower....NOT a joke at all, and what if I were somebody with disabilities being left in complete darkness?? Perhaps far better customer service training is needed. Facilities are OK but the male changing room for the gym is often dirty especially the toilets, the whole changing room floor and the drainage area for showers. A few of the lights also don't work and have been marked for too long as needing replacement. Please improve your standards Rainbow!!
