The train staffs were we met were all nice, friendly and helpful, they ask where we are going, help us with directions and gave us kind regards. It was raining heavily and so windy, but glad to have met kind people like them
I do hope the people responsible for this town will decide to develop the area and make it more tourists friendly . I had been in a few port towns across the UK and this one is at the bottom of the list . The train station is in tatters , no facilities except a little coffee shop on the side of Ferry port , no information point , all closed down and no one to ask what to do if the train is cancelled . The town itself is very sleepy , with most of the shops closed down on Saturday and Sunday . Most of the food shops are open around 5 pm . The big stores are located far away from the center and you need a car or a bus to get to them . Public transport leaves a lot to wish for . Especially on Sundays where you have buses every two hours going to towns nearby but not in the direction you really wish to go to be able to visit some great historical places . The only bright side of this town are people who are living here . They are very friendly and extremely nice and for them I wish , their town governing body would give a dime and make this town better .
Depressing place. Unloved with few facilities. Only comes alive with coming and goings of ferries. Needs a clean and some investment. This is what happens when visitors fly to Dublin rather than taking a ferry.
Great train station. Only fault I can say is there's not many staff around to help...i couldn't find platform one a d had to walk what I thought was out to the road to find it...could do with being more advertised where the platforms are. Not good if your in a rush to get connecting trains
The trains always leave here late and I don’t understand why, by far the worst station for leaving on time and I’ve traveled all over the UK. There’s been times where I was due to get a train at 8 from Bangor and just knew they’d be late called them up at around 6 and begged them to leave on time for once, they hung up on me then low and behold the train was 30 minutes late leaving the station. Writing this now as I’m waiting for my train that left Holyhead station 30 minutes late. If you need to catch a train from here expect it to be late leaving and plan accordingly because it’ll be more likely late than not.
It's a mix of bricks, glass and plastic. Choose one, why don't you? No taxis are waiting outside and it is really hard to order one. They have very large arches that let cold air inside the station and waiting area is very far away. Waiting area is great hence not a 1 star review.
No were to eat or change money English to euro for a coffee om terminal
Didn't see much of this as I went straight to the ferry. Plenty of semaphore signalling around.
having traveled all over britain on trains this is the worst train station iv seen, dirty, miserable and old fashioned.
Godd prices but my purchases were thrown at me at the till, they couldn't get me through the till fast enough,.
