What a joke, loads of staff all chatting together, I can see 8 while I type this. The manager/ supervisor just joined them. Loads of trans canx, loads changing platforms. No one is in charge, helping people find the right trains, not simply a train problem, certainly a manager problem.
Train operators are Transport for Wales, West Midland trains and Avanti West coast - I was passing through from Holyhead to Newport in South Wales and luckily I did not have to change platforms. Nothing really to say either way but there we go
All credit to Michael serving today on Shrewsbury ticket counter. Nothing was too much trouble for him in helping my wife chose and purchase forward tickets. Polite and courteous and unhurried in his advice. An example of customer service at it's very best.
I absolutely understand that they expect you to arrive at least 5 mins before departure. Unfortunately we were held up and still arrive with about 30 seconds to go on the 18.24 train from Shrewsbury to Church Stretton. I asked the attendant on the platform if this was the right train and he said yes, I pressed the door button. The attendant t on the train was looking down at the attendant to check everything was good and he just said step back. I think this really wasn’t very considerate and they definitely had time to let us on before the departure which we wouldn’t have delayed.
I am absolutely disgusted with the staff at this railway station and I wouldn’t even rate it a 1 it was the option . Today after a weekend away I was going through the ticket holder at Shrewsbury with my child’s ticket I’m 15 when a blonde woman approached me telling me I’m over the age of 16, and because I didn’t have any sort of ID on me was forced to pay for an adults ticket which was £25!! When I had already bought the correct ticket for myself for £8. I refused and then had around 4 males who work on the train station surrounding me trying to intimidate me into paying for a ticket just to get through the gates. The blonde woman also repeatedly swore at me making me feel very uncomfortable and what I believe was extremely inappropriate. I would definitely not recommend this train station and something needs to be done about the staff on this station because I believe many other people have had similar problems with staff working here.
Thank you to staff for helping my elderly parents onto the 16.02 to Birmingham today. Without your assistance we would have struggled to get on and easily seated.
7 platforms - nice and easy
Charging peak tickets at off peak time. Discraceful and just proves what happens when the tories get involved. Screw innocent travellers over on ticket prices to make a quick buck.... .
Upon arriving at the station on the next available train on a ticket I bought online for a train that was cancelled , I was looked at like I was a con man . The ticket inspector on the train that allowed me to travel on the expired ticket intervened at the barrier and explained the situation. I was then swore at by a woman named kelly at the barrier as she allowed me through sayin ‘ for f’s sake’ as she opened the barrier . In the presence of the ticket inspector the police officer and another station staff member . I asked why she swore at me an they all looked at me gone out . Being swore by the staff who were obviously annoyed that I was entitled to travel . I went to the ticket desk and asked to make a complain . And then I was followed outside by a police officer and told that ‘she didn’t swear at you’ badge number 6156 . So not only was I swore at , I was being lied to by a police officer trying to convince me I miss heard . I was standing in close proximity to the foul mouthed woman and have good hearing . Sally, your a disgrace to your profession. As is the lying police officer . Utterly disgraceful.
A big thank you to the lady on Gate-line who went out of her way to charge my phone so I could access my tickets -
