This was a fabulous station to both arrive and depart at, having well-sized platforms for the trains. The stylization is very nice and there are many platforms, though finding your way around is easy due to the signs. A beautiful glass roof is enforced heavily and there are departure boards to make sure nobody misses any train, also the station had cleanliness maintained when I visited!
I've used the station quite a few times over the years and it does the biz - ticket office, lots of self-service ticket machines, various eateries ... and what interested me, clear displays to guide you to your train both in the central entrance area and on the platforms. The Victorian building is very attractive too.
This Grade II listed station opened 17th January 1904 at a cost adjusted for inflation of £110 million. It was built in the Edwardian Baroque style using a mix of red brick and terracotta. I’m always a fan of grand train stations and Nottingham’s is no disappointment. If you agree, leave a quick thumbs up
Traveled on 10th August with 2 wheel chair users and 2 adults. The service we received at the station from John and his team, was excellent, they were very helpful, polite and went out of their way to help us - with ramps on/off the trains, directions and even taking us to the tram stop all the way through the station and lifts 5 star service Thank you
Loved the experience in Nottingham. Quite cold now but around this time of the year everyone's so festive. The city centre is very much alive on the weekend. You often see lots of students out and about as well from the university. Nottingham has rich cultural history and great significance in the UK and sovereignty of England. Truly a pleasure being here.
Best place to be a student, surrounded by clubs and everything you need is a tram stop or a 5 min Uber away, good weather throughout
Sorry to say but as a disabled person I was left to find alternative transport on my own when the trains were cancelled at 9pm in the dark. I understand cancellations etc but it's how it's dealt with that really matters, in this case it was to not help any passengers even ones who were struggling and asking for help. Pretty poor, total opposite to my previous experiences.
The exterior vicinity needs plenty of planting containers with real evergreen plants, it'll help uplift the area, and a positive welcoming to our tourist/visitors for Nottingham. All that plants need is a weekly watering. Helping to improve Nottingham economy is vital in these difficult bleak times.
Staff are amazing and always helpful. East Midlands Trains first class lounge is small and very basic but has air conditioning so always nice and cool in the hot weather Staff in the lounge are always friendly and helpful just a shame the whole first class product from EMT has gone down hill a lot!
Shame the first class lounge has been closed. Nonetheless a nice example of a Victorian station that's clean, quite busy but nicely located for getting into Nottingham either on foot or tram.
