Fantastic Welsh border castle ruined after the end of the Civil War. Some interesting architectural remains from its time as a manor house as well as a castle. Well stocked little shop, toilets on site. Plenty of towers to climb, walls to clamber around fantastic views over the Black Mountains from the top of the main keep. Plenty for history buffs and passing tourists alike.
Beautiful spot in wales with a lovely view of the countryside from the castle. It’s about £24 for three people to enter so it’s not the cheapest attraction to visit but it’s beautifully maintained and quite a spectacular building. Really loved I could bring my dog except on the winding staircases Wish we can just carried our child instead of using a pram.
A fantastic medieval castle with Tudor alterations. There could arguably be a few more safety precautions but the castle is well worth a visit even if just for the view available from the top of the great tower! Be mindful of the pigeon nesting on the staircase though...Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
A little creepy but his place is amazing. Walking around the interior and reading the numerous and extensive interior signs is so informative and gives you an idea of life in the castle. Coolest thing is looking up at the walls and you see fireplaces still in the masonry walls even though the floors have long disappeared. If you can make it up the 90 narrow steps definitely go up to the tower to see the view that the castle guards had. Gift shop has some interesting items and staff is friendly. Highly recommended.
Our family really enjoyed visiting Raglan Castle last Sunday. It's nice that you can take your dog with you. Obviously, dog need to stay on a lead, and you can't go up the stairs for safety reasons, but you can swap with a family member. So nice. And beautiful views. I recommend it.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
This castle is well worth a visit. From the outside we thought it was going to be small but going in you realise just how much there is to see. Plenty of castle to walk around and great views at the top. So much castle for your money and worth a visit. Spent about 2 hours here, loved it.Visited onPublic holidayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Great experience. One of Wales great castles. So much to see and do. I'd highly recommend a visit. Staff were great, good facilities. Helped that we went on a stunning day as well mind you. Only downside is that it was quite muddy in places where there were bottlenecks and the car park was too. I'd imagine after a bit of rain it would be pretty bad.
Amazing castle well worth a visit with lots of the original building still intact and there's lots to see. The courtyard is still there and the surrounding buildings also the lawns are a nice spot for a picnic.. lots of parking available tooVisited onPublic holidayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
Cannot rate this castle highly enough. It is so impressive and so much of it left. Came here on a whim as a pitstop on way home from Wales. So glad we did. Spent a good 3 hours here and could have spent longer. It's one of the best I've been to. So much to see and walk round. If you get a chance to visit here I would definitely recommend it to everyone.
I have a bit of an obsession with exploring old castles so when looking for one in the area, I found Raglan online. It seemed to be in great repair and the cost to visit was much lower than expected we paid £8.30 each. I booked it online, but it seems thus wasn't really necessary on the day we went as people were also just turning up and buying tickets. Thre was ample free parking and the castle itself was huge and immensely impressive. Lots to see and explore and the views were stunning. The Great Tower was closed, thanks to a swarm of bees who made it their home, but that detracted from nothing. Would definitely recommend!
