Bees are amazing. Fact. No bees, no life on earth. This place is great. We went because I think bees are pretty dope little critters but this place has so much more to it. Enter through the gift shop and there’s a cafe in front of you. We had lunch there. The service was really pleasant and the food was delicious. We bought out tickets for the gardens which are really special and designed specifically for bees. We took the tour which was really well paced and they offer insights into all aspects of the bee life and the products they create. You get to roll a beeswax candle and keep it, learn about the flowers that are bee friendly for you garden in the tour my wife took lots of notes, plant and keep some seeds, hold some giant bugs, and look inside a couple of hives. Fascinating day with more than we expected. Really relaxed with passionate staff. Thoroughly recommend.
Lovely few hours spent here. You can take your dog and enjoy a well equipped gift shop pertaining to bee household good quality items. Drinks honeys, chutneys, lemon curds and marmalade all made from the bees lots to choose from. Lovely staff .really lovely large comfortable cafe and outside area. You can pay to have a tour around the grounds taste honey and watch candles being made. Worth a visit.
Fantastic place to visit, highly recommended! This place is completely voluntary and self supported, in other words, the don't have govt funding, so rely heavily on public support. They are doing research into bees and have a high knowledge base. They keep their own bees and produce their own honey. There is a cafe here which serves breakfast up until 12 with plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. They have a shop here where you can buy all sorts of bee related products too. You can buy a tour of their facilities, which if you do, make sure to put 3 hours of your time aside. This is a brilliant tour and highly informative, all for a very reasonable price. They also have their own honey extraction and bottling factory. There is a playground for energetic children
Excellent place, well worth a visit. Paid £14 for a tour that lasted 2.5 hrs which included garden tour, bee keeping demonstration, honey factory demonstration and roll your own candle to take home. Afternoon tour stars at 2pm. Dog friendly, only place dogs aren't allowed in the play area. Large cafe with gluten free choices, shop selling wide range of bee related products.
Fantastic day out and great value. Doing the tour is a must with 5 activities to do over the course of 3 hours. You learn a lot during the tour and it keeps you engaged the whole visit. Well worth a trip to visit!Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
Very informative tour with lovely guides. Learned so much about bees! Cafe offers a wide selection of delicious food, many dishes incorporating honey. Excited to come back in a few years to see how the gardens have developed.
Had a visit in a wet and cold April afternoon. Kids loved the soft play and grown ups loved the food in the award winning restaurant. Interesting well planned tour around the gardens and factory made it a good value day out. Stayed for 5 hours!
My husband and I visited this place today. It's a great place but it's a bit confusing trying to get into it using the postcode, the postcode does get you there but the entrance is a few hundred yards further up the road. But once we found the entrance it was fine. There is plenty of parking and best of all it's free. The entrance fee is £13, less for kids and for that you get a tour of the place with talk's all about the bees and the different stages to do with honey and beeswax. Also you can make your own beeswax candle, plus a choice of seeds which you can take home and plant, to encourage bee's to your garden. There is also a nice little café. The staff were friendly and helpful and I would definitely recommend this place. All in all a great day out for the whole family.
Lovely cafe and shop but tour times were not well advertised and anyone arriving after 2pm misses out on the events but still needs to pay full price. A reduced entry price for those not wanting to make candles and take full your would be a great idea. Small, expensive but nice selection of honey, lots of other bee realted products creams, balms, kitchen ware, jewellery etc. Cafe meals are ok. Lots of parking. Bathrooms on site. No queues when we visited on a weekday.
Really great day out. Good value for money talks and activities included in entry are brilliant and the play areas are really good for kids of all ages! Highly recommend and would definitely visit again if back in the area to see the development of the site.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
