Not good enough as it should be more clean. It is major connectivity center but it now split to bus station due to queen's gate renovation. Timeing of x4 and 23 are mostly fluctuate and sometime unavailability of orton 1 is increased. It is very poorly maintained specifically toilet section. It has national bus services.
Dirty, smelly, uninviting, depressing hole. This is what I thought of the bus station in 2005, and nearly 20 years later it’s got worse!! Add in leaks, broken amenities, closed facilities and lack of security staff. Fortunately I don’t use buses anymore, but in the evening when the rest of Queensgate closes, this is the only way to access the leisure complex from the rest of town! What a way to lift spirits!nnI don’t know who is responsible for the station whether it’s the council or Queensgate themselves, but it is desperately in need of attention!
Dirty, wet and smelly. Well in need of major refurbishment. Some of the locals could do with a good wash, maybe even a jet wash. Toilets are currently being upgraded. Would be nice if they had a canteen where hot food and drinks could be bought. Currently there are vending machines operated by a company called carbon neutral though this is not displayed on the machines, any refunds for non delivery seems to be non existent. I personally refuse to use these machines now as very unreliable and expensive. As a bus driver I’d advise people to keep their wits about them
Public transport users deserve to benefit from executive decisions that defy the impasse created between City Authority decisions and Stagecoach main franchise provider of service - Not suffer at their mercy.nThe bus station is bleak cold and could benefit in an undertaking for refurbishment. It is part of the 'gateway' to this beautiful City for many who opt not to arrive by car. In fact using public transport and experiencing a good service is paramount for all irrespective of social status. Buses that all converge on Queensgate Bus Station should not be the mainstay of marginalised users. Hourly night time buses leaving the Bus Station do not enable travel for more than one wheelchair user hourly on all routes. The refurbished bus station should be accessible and comfortable FOR ALL. it is currently not!!!nSustainable transport team and cabinet members can do better. The bus station is not fit for purpose. None of this is to denigrate the service individuals employed by Stagecoach and Queensgate Shopping Centre deliver.nMention of the toilet facilities is an issue within the City. Public toilets are diabolical. I suggest using facilities at the museum. Increase footfall there and rub along with ad hoc discussions taking place in the coffee shop between the decision makers at Peterborough Unitary Authority. Main concern to impress 'Gill' and keep spending in-house. None of which is beneficial to those who are compelled to use 'sustainable transport' options available at miserable Queensgate Bus Station. Even 'information' has been moved to the remote Information Shop! None of this is a good look for an amazing City Centre.
I was shocked to discover that the Queensgate bus station, despite its size, had no enquiries office or boards displaying current arrivals and departures. There was also no National Express office, apparently there had previously been one but it had closed and no other information office or anyone to answer passenger queries. There were no refreshment facilities just one set of toilets with very long queues. I was meeting an elderly lady there and we were meant to be catching a National Express coach taking us to London but even at the National Express bays 18, 19 and 20 the fixed timetables failed to display our coach. It was a complete nightmare and only thanks to a couple of other people waiting for the same coach did we get to know that there would be a coach arriving. The board displayed a coach to Golder's Green at 12.10pm and made no mention of going to London Victoria. Apparently it was this coach we were meant to be catching which according to our tickets was meant to be leaving at 11.30 am. Every other bus station we visited ie Norwich, London Victoria, Bristol and Birmingham clearly displayed arrivals and departures which regularly updated and had enquiry offices and helpful staff. It is high time that Peterborough bus station took urgent action to rectify it's many failings and followed suit.nIn addition whilst I have been typing this comment my typing has been covered up so I have had to repeatedly shut down the keypad to see if what I have written was accurate. This issue also needs addressing on this site.
