Excellent Fish and Chips, mushy peas, katsu style curry sauce etc. Served very hot with bread and butter, tea or coffee. All for £11.50 for two courses. You cannot go wrong. The fish particularly good, lovely and fresh. Crispy batter. Parking on the road outside. Spotlessly clean toilets. Very friendly, helpful staff. 10/10. Parking: Small car park at rear, good roadside parking.
First time eating in this establishment and it won't be the last. Decent portions and the kids eat free with every adult meal is a good deal. Service was fantastic and we wasn't waiting long at all. *Update to original review from 2yrs ago. Come here on a regular basis for takeout, everything always spot on. Easily the best Fish and chips Restaurant/Takeaway in the area.
Good customer service. Staff are friendly and really well presented Quality of fish is good but the quality of frying varies. Often the fish is battered that lightly its not there which results in a,dry fish. They need to be more consistent Vegetarian options: Jacket Potatoes Kid-friendliness: Kids under 12 eat free Parking: 10
Been a few more times since and the experience was much better. Excellent fish and chips, so changing to 5 stars. Edited: Fish and chips were very good. Ended up getting charged £1.20 a can instead of the advertised 60p per meal.
Wow!! Just arrived home from visiting the newly refurbed restaurant and it looks amazing!!! The food was delicious and there were empty plates all round! We some how managed to save some room for pudding which was equally as good!! Some very full tummy’s but definitely worth it!! By far the best tasting fish and chips around eaten in a lovely relaxed environment with fabulous service! Well done guys you’ve all done a fabulous job! We will be seeing you again soon I’m sure!
Very lovely friendly people that served me. The fish and chips here are probably the best quality I have ever tasted and it's usually so difficult to find a fish and chip shop with this standard. I would absolutely get them again from Queens Drive Food: 5/5
Thanks to Danny Malin of Rate my Takeaway I was made aware of this place. He was right to give them a solid 10. Well recommended, have been several times now.
Never again!! Been coming here years as a family for fish and chips. After today's visit we will never go back! Daughter doesn't like chips so she just wanted a fish on its own. No problem they bring her just a fish and then charge £12.50 for it! When questioning it the staff rudely stated "well she could have had chips or peas" yet at no point at ordering only a fish did they state it would be priced as a whole meal. Since the refurb this place has dropped its standards and service is shocking. Save your self hassle and go to a different place. Edit: in reply to you David, I am perfectly ok with the words I have written. At no point when we ordered just a fish were we told it would be done as a main meal regardless of not wanting chips side or drink! Had the staff mentioned this or stated you didn't do a fish only option we may have chosen something else. On other occasions we have visited it hasn't been an issue and was priced accordingly at about £6. How can a fish on its own be £12.50 yet fish and chips is £11.50? Are you ok with ripping off customers who have been regulars over many years and deem it OK to charge £12.50 for 1 fish? Which point of my review is misleading? If anything is misleading it is your pricing as stated above. The overall cost has nothing to do with my complaint and when you say 6 people you fail to mention that it was 2 children 2 adults and 2 senior citizens. People can decide for themselves whether they find the price justified or not and the FACT one meal was "one fish only"!
Well, I know everyone has their favourite place and you get recommended by your friends and family “try this place”, “try that place” only to find out it’s not up to par, but I have to say this place is definitely not one of those places. I’ve eaten in many fish restaurants, takeaways over the years and have to say this place is now my favourite. Even better than those great costal finds. If you get a chance, try eating in, do it. Let’s hope it’s up to your expectations!
Fabulous, friendly service and great tasty food. Highly recommended, we’ll definitely be coming again.
