Story

Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the largest acute hospital trusts in the country treating over half a million patients each year. The Trust is the second largest employer in Portsmouth.

We provide comprehensive secondary care and specialist services to a local population of 675,000 people across South East Hampshire.

We also offer some speciality services to a wider catchment of around two million people.

Our population is characterised by its diversity – the rural and the urban, areas of wealth juxtaposed with real pockets of deprivation, and gaps in life expectancy.

Most of our services are provided at Queen Alexandra Hospital, in Cosham, but we also offer a range of outpatient and diagnostic facilities closer to patients’ homes in community hospital sites and at local treatment centres throughout South East Hampshire including St Mary's Treatment Centre, Gosport War Memorial Hospital and Petersfield Community Hospital.

Staff at the Breast clinic QA Hospital well done to you all. Excellent with patients made to feel at ease listened and explained the problem well, Even though the wait is 2 to 4 hours you know you are going to be checked thoroughly and treated as soon as possible. I went to the hospital today referred by Oak Park Community medical centre and the nurse I first met at the non critical unit who did the triage was very sour about the referral from Oak Park, I felt that I was a bother to her. My advice to her is keep it professional and don't let the patient see that you are unhappy, I think that if someone more meek and mild than me had that experience they might have felt that they were wasting the hospitals time and left untreated. This is surely a risk to health. Saying all that everyone has a bad day and I respect nursing so I don't want to cause issues, just a training issue I think. Everyone else was wonderful and compassionate in the unit.

I took my wife to A&E here yesterday after she was woken by chest pains. We were obviously lucky that as it was early on a Sunday morning the waiting room was quiet. However, the service she received was tremendous. She was seen within minutes and nothing was too much trouble for the wonderful staff! We met many who were all kind and helpful. Well done to everyone and thank you.

I was on holiday and on the first morning I was taken to the queen alexandra hospital by ambulance. The ambulance crew were superb very caring and efficient a credit to the service. At the hospital we were kept informed and looked after superbly. London hospitals could learn from this one as to how to treat patients. Thank you to all the staff at the hospital and the ambulance crew.

My husband under went a course of radiotherapy and consultations beforehand. The staff were excellent. He was seen on time every day. Everything was first class

I had a two hour hand operation on 1st August 2024. Consultants Pandasar and Connor and their team. They were absolutely fantastic as well as all the nurses. Such a well run, clean and caring hospital.

My little baby alanna was in there for 1year staff were amazing even home visits with her . Sad news  she didn't make it she lived till she was just over 2  can't believe  28 yrs now  I would like to set up a direct debit

I have gastroparesis and I was referred to the Gastrointestinal department from Cambridge University Hospitals. After years of being gaslit and told there was nothing wrong with me and barely coping due to feeling so ill I finally found a team who were so welcoming and friendly and made me feel so seen and heard. They were curious and interested in my story and wanted to help me. It was such a breath of fresh air it made me quite emotional. I'm so grateful thank you so much you're all great

Can't explain how fantastic this place is, was in ward E10, after going to a&e having wisdom teeth out at another hospital, had a major infection. Was seen quickly, put on IV antibiotics etc, x-ray and seen quickly by the surgical team, was taken to surgery within 5 hours of stepping in to a&e. The ward was immaculate, staff were all so attentive, gentle and couldn't do enough! It was my first time having anything seriously wrong with me and my experience was 11 out of 10. So lucky to have the NHS & the wonderful staff who strive to make our lives better!

I recently had a kidney transplant At QA I was lucky enough to receive a kidney from my beloved husband I just wanted to say that I am so grateful to everyone who works at renal department I have received so much care , support and love from all the nurses and doctors Especially ward g6 They are really an amazing team Thank You
