It would be quite OK if not for the ventilation. I was there after midnight and still in the smaller areas it stank. The larger areas were OK. Not impressed. The dedicated parking is a redeeming feature, but it looks a bit run down.nn2024 update:nThe situation has improved. I find myself coming here more and more often. Lots of space, cool building layout and free parking.
A very conducive environment to work out. The cleaners do a great job keeping this gym neat. The ladies changing room , including the showers is always clean . Kudos to this gym
I loved that this gym was SO convenient to me. It's pretty clean considering the other Pure Gyms I have visited southgate!. I had to cancel my membership sadly due to the clientele. Let's just say it's ghetto- loud, foul mouthed rude boys who haven't been taught about good personal hygiene and personal space. I had no issues as I would go in the morning, sadly my schedule changed a little bit so I had to go around 15:00hr, or how my mate calls it: ghetto hour.
Pretty much everything here is knackered - most of the machines are old and rusty, when things are broken they seem to stay broken for ages. Cleanliness isn’t great, but this is mainly because the one “cleaning station” is almost always out of wipes.nHalf of the treadmills don’t get up to speed I’m assuming they just aren’t maintained unless they actually break, and it’s bizarre that all the cardio machines face the walls rather than the windows?nnTo their credit, the staff are friendly and helpful when they’re around, but this feels like a student gym you’d pay a tenner a month for. I’ve found myself actually dreading going.
It's a shame to give this 1-star, but the air conditioning has been broken since I joined a month ago. Trying to do classes when it's above 18' outside is near impossible as everyone is over-heating which is very dangerous. It also makes the classes and the gym itself smell incredibly badly. I've enjoyed starting at the gym but will be transferring to a different gym next month. The pilates class on a Sunday is beyond excellent though and would only come back for that.
