Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Classes in Portsmouth

Pure Art BJJ provides high-quality Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) classes in Portsmouth for complete beginners through to experienced practitioners. Our classes offer friendly, patient and supportive instruction in a positive and welcoming training environment.

We teach the complete art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, from strong fundamental techniques through to advanced BJJ. Training covers Gi BJJ, No Gi BJJ, takedowns, guard work, positional control, escapes, sweeps, submissions, self-defence and competition techniques.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu uses technique, leverage and positional control rather than relying primarily on size or strength. BJJ has also been extensively tested in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), where its grappling and submission techniques have played an important role.

Beginners are always welcome at Pure Art BJJ. Our dedicated beginners classes provide structured technical instruction designed to give new students a strong foundation in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. No previous BJJ or martial arts experience is required, and you don't need to already be fit before you start training.

Our teaching focuses on understanding the concepts and technical details that make techniques work, with individual attention and positive feedback to help every student progress.

Pure Art BJJ is located at Fort Purbrook Activity Centre, Peter Ashley Lane, Portsdown Hill Road, Portsmouth, Hampshire, PO6 1BJ.
