Lovely family run hotel. Our room had a view of the sea and the street down to the main shopping. With the Christmas lights it's was very pretty. Room had a good need and plenty of pillows. En-suite very well presented as well. No evening food at this time of year January, but plenty of places to go out. We also went to breakfast out, but they do offer a buffet in peak season. I really liked it, was 5 minutes from the sea and shops, restaurants and cafes. Would happily go back! Pictures show the view from room 3.
It’s a lovely hotel set inside a beautiful, castle-like building. The rooms were spacious and well-equipped with all the necessary facilities, making for a very comfortable stay. The breakfast was decent, though fairly average in my opinion. Overall, a charming place to stay with a unique atmosphere.
We have stayed here several times.nThe room we had was pleasant and quiet, the bathroom was clean and tidy.the bed was comfortable.nThe breakfast is not as good as it used to be, fresh fruit was prunes or grapefruit, and only Greek yogurt,nHot plates for the cooked breakfast.eggs weren’t always hot.nSo less options than what we remembered.nOn the Saturday the hot breakfast was made or delivered to order, this was much nicer as the eggs were freshly cooked, so nice n hot.nAlso nothing to tell you that they will do porridge or egg alternatives if asked.nWe will come back, it maybe not have the breakfast.
I had a slightly odd stay at the Purbeck House Hotel. Whilst the staff were friendly and the location was brilliant, the room was strange and very outdated and the breakfast was a bit disappointing. This all would have been fine, but the lock on my door didn't work and the housekeeper tried to come in in the morning. Luckily I propped a chair against the door in case! They were very apologetic about it and it was an honest mistake, but feeling secure in my room is always the main thing for me when staying away on my own.
Room, location and staff was excellent. The building from inside and outside was mesmerising. The only reason for deducting one star was the disappointing breakfast. Perhaps they should start offering hot English Breakfast.
